According to BGR, RIM is expected to make a huge announcement this Tueday at MWC (Mobile World Congress) which is being held in Barcelona.  The source seems to be from RIM employees, saying that Mike Lazaridis will be talking about BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express (BESX).  The services will be launched free as a BlachBerry Enterprise Server which is really exciting.  The assumption is that BESX will be using your existing BIS data plan, without having to upgrade to a more expensive one.  On the other hand, some folks on Twitter are talking about a whole other data plan from BlackBerry to launch, but I don’t see that being likely just yet as it seems too early to assume.

What else is in for rumors on Tuesday? There’s the “BlackBerry Shield for BIS” that might get some mentions.  As folks are still not sure what exactly the shield is yet, BGR guesses that it might be a remote lock and device wipe feature for BIS subscribers.  Any way, getting back to BESX, it is said to be the Microsoft ActiveSync killer, as there are still many corporate heads relying and using it in the workplace.  RIM bringing out services to even match ActiveSync would be wonders, and will definitely make more users turn to it in reliance.  A RIM employee adds “Internally we are pumped about it. Perfect for SME, and people who are looking at using ActiveSync with other smartphones. It’s not quite RIM-like, giving software with unlimited users away, but a great move.”

Does it seem too good to be true? The full aspect of having free BES via BIS seems like a wonderful idea.  But if you think about it, this means we’ll be having OTA syncing without physically “having” that server.  Shared servers for everyone? Is it reliable? These are questions baffling us at the moment, but from the look of it, we’ll have to wait til Tuesday for the official announcement.
