Skype for BlackBerry is a Green Light with No ETA

We’ve been following Skype for BlackBerry for way too long.  I am currently using IM+ which lets me cope for now, but I’d like an official Skype branded application already. Back in June, we saw AT&T enable VoIP calling which got many of us excited that a Skype application may be on its way. At least we got to see the leaked version of Skype for the BlackBerry Storm, but would of rather seen more devices get it as well.  The app was really buggy, and there were just too many issues people were having overall with the application. The worst part was all the talk in the mobile world tipping that Skype for BlackBerry was officially coming in May ’09. Blasphemy. We’re still waiting.

Kevin from CrackBerry is over at Mobile World Congress 2010 and it looks like Skype is being super shady about the launch of a BlackBerry app.  Upon being asked, they say it is coming, but have no BlackBerry device to show with it working on it, and not even an estimate time of arrival for the app.  Either way, the application releasing will be huge for all BlackBerry users given all of Skype’s WiFi calling capabilities.
