CyberSynchs – Wirelessly Backup Your BlackBerry Data

A few days ago, we were given the opportunity to play around with CyberSynchs.  Overall, the service rocks if you have a lot of vital data on your BlackBerry, and are too lazy like myself to make backups through BlackBerry Desktop Manager.  CyberSynchs keeps four main points in mind for you: Safety, Security, Accessibility, and Compatibility.  In safety, the app will backup and keep another copy of all your information safely (and privately) just in case you need to pull it up later.  With security options, you’ll fee rest assured that all of your information is equipped with high security, preventing hackers and other people obtaining your data.  In accessibility, you’ll be able to access your information anywhere you are without having to worry about carrying your data around or losing it.  With compatibility, you can easily transfer information and data between different types of phones, even if they are different kinds.

What I like:

  • The interface is so simple.  Upon opening the application, just use your user name and password you created along with the mobile ID you are given when signing up. Within the options, you select what exactly you’d like to backup by checking the box next to it. Downloading data back has never been easier.  I almost want to say that I won’t use Desktop Manager again, but of course I will sometimes.  One thing for sure, I will definitely make sure to backup when I need to.  That’s the other cool feature about it.  You can set CyberSynchs to do the remote backup at set times or manually if you’d like full control.  The choice is yours.  In addition, feel free to continue what you’re doing on your BlackBerry when CyberSynchs is syncing.  If you encounter some hourglassin’ at first, it’ll go away soon enough and you won’t even know the app is syncing in the background.  At that point you’ll be able to do whatever it is you’re doing on your BlackBerry while CyberSynchs runs in the background.

What I don’t like:

  • The sync sometimes seem to take a long time depending on how much data you have.  I can’t ever appreciate an app that hour glasses on me, disabling me from doing anything else but wait.  Sometimes when the bar goes to 99% and 100%, it somehow resets itself back to 90%, throwing you off completely, leaving you confused as to when the sync will be completed.  Issues like that are small, making it not even a big deal overall as CyberSynchs does so much for you, leaving you satisfied for the most part.  For $3 a month, it might be worth it for some, but someone like me doesn’t need all this as a prime way for backups as I would care more for contacts and calendar for myself.

This may not be the perfect solution for you if you are looking to just back up contacts as there are alternatives to this such as Google Sync which is absolutely free. to download.  If you’re looking into CyberSynchs, it’s $2.99 a month to have.  You can sign up for a free 7 day trial of CyberSynchs here.
