Firstly, here’s a screenshot above of what to expect from the all new BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express (BESX).  To me it looks simple but I would certainly like to poke at it a bit before making any assumptions.  Ever since the services were announced, there’s been so much talk about what to expect from it and what services will be included or even excluded.  After reading on some details today, I found that BESX will be very beneficial to lots of folks, including small businesses who don’t want to subscribe with BES as they aren’t on that large of a scale.  BESX seems to be the perfect solution for the guy in the middle.

Now, to answer many of your questions out there, yes BESX will work fine on your BIS device with no required add-on to your services.  Any downsides? Well, I don’t think this is a big deal but activation cannot be done wirelessly which doesnt seem like such a big deal to me.  You’ll have to use your USB cable via BlackBerry Desktop Manager, Web Desktop Manager, or BES Admin Web Console to activate it in the beginning.  The other bright side is that OTA syncing is all there in BESX just as it is in standard BES.  So yes, feel free to sync your contacts, calendar, and everything else wirelessly OTA.
