Your BlackBerry isn’t a Gameboy. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy mobile gaming throughout your day in between your routined schedule. Here’s a list of three free classic games I hope you can all remember, regardless of your age.

Pacman is a hit classic game featured on the Atari platform (and many others) and later hit arcade game machines. Variations such as Ms. Pacman and Pacman 3D were later created. So here’s the classic Pacman game for BlackBerry absolutely free. Some of you have this already while the rest of the world has been totally oblivious of its availability. Click here to download free.

Tetris is an addictive strategy/puzzle game or whatever other category you consider it. I love it and have playing since I had it on my Gameboy in the early 90′s. Hopefully you’ll find the same joy in it as I have. This one is called BlockBerry, but is exactly identical to Tetris. Click here to download free.

SU Addictions is another good one I like.  It basically consists of 20 variations of the hit card game Solitaire.  If you’re a fan of playing cards, you’ll definitely want to check this out.  Click here to download free.

Traditionally we scroll through our phonebook to select a contact to dial. Sound simple? Let’s walk through that again.  Assuming your phonebook is not in the top 6 applications, it would require you to hit the menu button, scroll to the phonebook, and then select the important contact.  We just got the word that Iconify has just released its public beta at v0.8.3.  I never used this application before today but it is definitely quite impressive.

Iconify allows you to create and customize home screen icons for contacts in your phonebook and websites you enjoy going to frequently.  Hit the jump for more features with Iconify including the OTA download link.

As the services are still in beta right now, you can go right ahead and try it from your BlackBerry.  So there’s not much to say about the application other than the fact that you’ll be able to stream LIVE television from UK on your BlackBerry absolutely free.  Many channels are available and as I am not from the UK, I don’t know which are the good and bad ones.  As a note from the folks over at ROK TV:

“This service is currently in BETA mode and as such, has a limit on the number of users able to access the streams at any one time. If you are unable to stream the channels offered (identified by the channel signal buffering constantly) and are viewing with either good mobile data signal strength or via uncongested Wifi, this will be due to a much higher demand than we anticipated. We apologies for any inconvenience this may cause however, the capacity will be increased when in full service mode. If you do experience access issues during peak viewing times, please try again later as this service is available 24/7.”

ROK TV is absolutely free now as it is in beta.  We don’t know what will come of it after it launches officially but know that it is free to download today.

I love free applications. You do too.  Here’s WiFi Comrade for BlackBerry, which acts as your personal WiFi assistant that conserves battery.  Yes, applications like these have been out and about before, but this one is free if you can appreciate that. The WiFi Comrade operates by monitoring the BlackBerry’s connection to the cellular network. By remembering the unique ID transmitted by each cell tower, WiFi Comrade can determine the BlackBerry’s current location. WiFi Comrade uses these locations to infer when WiFi connectivity is available and when it is not.

Features:

  • Stores an unlimited number of WiFi zones
  • Turns WiFi on when a known WiFi zone is detected
  • Turns WiFi off when the BlackBerry leaves a WiFi zone

Compatibility: 8120 (Pearl), 8220 (Pearl Flip), 8230 (Pearl Flip), 8320 (Curve), 8330 (Curve), 8350i (Curve), 8520 (Curve), 8530 (Curve), 8900 (Curve), 8930 (Curve), 9000 (Bold), 9550/9520 (Storm2), 9700 (Bold)

Already? I’m just getting comfortable with OS 5.0 and we’re already beginning to hear about OS 6.0 in production according to BGR.  I’m wondering if we’re going to see icon changes again for this one, or perhaps an option to have classic (Dimension series) or the modern Precision ones that we have now.  Those are the least of our worries and performance along with capabilities are key. On a side note, OS 5.2 is expected to roll out too according to Boy Genius.  What’s included? There are no official notes or leaks about it, but I think we can assume that flash support will be rolling out with it.

This was really aggrevating and I’m speaking from personal experience.  All day yesterday I kept getting  notifications such as the one above on my Facebook app on my Bold 9700.  When going onto my physical Facebook account from a computer, I can’t locate these “notifications” as they aren’t private messages or wall posts.  Are you a victim too?

The Cell Guru has it going again, but this time it’s with a BlackBerry Pearl 9100.  So all you myth busters out there who were cracking on the BlackBerry Magnum as being a fugazy, you can’t deny this one.  We’ve seen comparison videos on the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 aka Striker in the past, along with pictures too where its placed side by side with the older Pearl 81xx series.  Here we see it sexier than ever running OS 5.0.0.426.  I must say it’s going to be a fresh feeling to have an OS 5.0 enabled Pearl right out of the box, if you’re a fan of the device as I am.

  • Simple controls for all ages
  • Minimalist graphics for maximum appeal
