Last Foursquare update, we saw Friends management get added to it, allowing us to add, accept, and deny friend requests. This time around, Foursquare has went even further with its BlackBerry app as it ranks at v1.5 and has an awesome tips menu. So let’s say you’re checking out a gyro hot spot in the city. You’re on Foursquare checking it and out and would like to see the talk about it. After seeing its pros and cons, you can put it on your to do list for a later time if you want. Pretty cool right?

I know exactly what you’re thinking. Another alarm clock application? This one’s pretty cool though, I promise. When I’m up running around like a chicken, it means the third alarm has gone off and I will make it to work on time, just about. Not only that it also boasts a world clock, timer and a location alarm currently in beta. You can set up many world clocks with different locations, this is good as I know what time to BBM my American friends to wake or just chat. Of course without saying, it can always be good to have a few timers ready for when people tell you “give me 5 minutes” or “your pizza delivered in 45 minutes or its free!” (you get straight off the phone and press start on that timer)

We’ve mentioned this application before and let you know of its new features allowing you to scan 1D and 2D barcodes now. A lot of you think you have full out barcode scanning capabilities on your BlackBerry smartphones, but I’m here to tell you you’re wrong! Once you get over it and realize you don’t have the full capabilities, check out the latest version of ScanLife which allows you to scan all sorts of barcodes including those that you see for BlackBerry Messenger contacts and groups, standard 2D ones, and of course UPC which is the most famous on all sorts of retail items. There’s the free and premium version of ScanLife, so head over to the ScanLife website to check out details. Both versions have its ups and downs, but if you’re just looking to use it every now and then, get the free edition as it limits you to scanning 1000 items (that’s a lot and should be plenty). If you’ve made up your mind already, hit the link below to download over the air.

SugarSync just souped up their services earlier today, but adding a whole new “upload by email” feature. Now email attachments can sync right away to various computers and even BlackBerry simply. “It’s our goal to make your data always available at your fingertips,” said Laura Yecies, chief executive officer at SugarSync. “Upload by Email eliminates the need to download attachments and re-save them. We’re happy to add another way to make sync easier and transparent to you.” Which is totally true, who likes downloading attachments and then having to resave them? So what’s the best case scenerio for using this new feature? Let’s say you get a lot of emails with lots of attachments. You can simply forward those emails to your SugarSync email address (which is given to you upon registering) and all the attachments will be available on your SugarSync account, allowing you to access and download them at ease.

I spent a few hours playing around with piece, and I am full of a lot of mixed thoughts on it up until now. WiFi File Transfer for BlackBerry allows the transfer of files from a PC or Mac directly to your BlackBerry over Wifi using your browser. No need for Desktop Manager, Media Manager, USB drivers or any other 3rd party applications: Just a WiFi BlackBerry, PC/Mac with browser and a WiFi network.
Now lets start by looking at the program that everyone is raving about. I think on reading the blurb about the software that It looks great. So whats the problem? It says it works on the 9700! So why do I keep getting “problem loading page” with “The site could be temporarily unavailable or too busy. Try again in a few moments” So I do, then after a while with no luck I change the port to random in the settings, this will work I think! what do I get? “problem loading page” It does not want to connect, well not for me! so in my rage I calmly and collectively load it onto my 9000.

We’re a little late in mentioning, but some silly stuff is currently going on with a company who has released various apps in the past. For those who don’t know (to make a long story short), the company is sending out letters via email to other folks who have created flashlight apps for BlackBerry, letting them know that they are infringing a patented idea. does indeed have a flashlight application for BlackBerry, as do many other companies and developers out there. All of these are based off of the BlackBerry’s already equipped flashlight, so how can one put a restriction on others making similar applications? There’s a lot of indepth explanation to what is going on here, I’d suggest checking out BlackBerry Insight’s full article on it.

Rumors »

Yesterday we heard all the nonsense of the Tour 2 9650 rumor of it getting renamed as the Bold. Not the best news to hear nowadays, especially with RIM’s model numbers all over the place confusing its user friendly customers. This came from a service and repair tech from Sprint letting us know of some delays they may be having themselves with the launch of of the BlackBerry Tour 2 aka Bold 9650. For now we’re just going to call it the BlackBerry 9650, since this whole name situation is so confusing. So any way, our source says that the 9650 is having OS issues and folks that were beta testing it at the moment have started to send them back in. Aside from the OS, the trackpad was mentioned to have some sort of malfunction as well, but it’s still uncertain as to what the issue is with that.
