PocketBerry’s Favorite BlackBerry Themes

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion.  It’s amazing to see how far we’ve gone with BlackBerry themes.  Options are endless and there’s just so many places to grab both freebies and premium ones.  Today we decided to put what we like and personally use when it comes to themes. Here’s a quick roundup of what the PocketBerry staff favors when it comes to BlackBerry themes.

Mac Jadalhack:

  • For awhile I couldn’t keep third party themes going for awhile mainstream.  When I gave BeNexus a chance I found myself loving it.  My decision was not made based off just looks, but functionality and speed as well.  BeNexus comes with two nice utilities, one of which is very similar to SearchIt where you can easily access by hold Caps + S.  The other utility is an about us screen which can be easily accessed via the homescreen.  The overall movement and responsiveness of the theme is superb which as mentioned earlier is very important to me.  Having icons match third party apps is also another requirement of my themes.  Yes uniform icons look great, but I have one too many apps on my BlackBerry Bold 9700 that are consistently used so having them in folders to keep the homescreen uniform doesn’t cut it for me.  Now I know, this is a theme based on the Nexus One, but that has nothing to do with why I like the theme at all.  It’s not like I’m trying to have a DroidBerry here or anything.

  • Many of you are going to hate me when I say this, but I’m fond of iBerry.  As Mac isn’t intending to replicate the Nexus with his BeNexus, I am not trying to make my Berry an iPhone either.  Apple does make cool looking icons we can all agree, and the iBerry theme allows you to have 15 homescreen icons which is A++ for me.  I was always a fan of the old school Dimension series theme so you’ll understand my reason better after acknowledging that.  I’m using a T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 and certainly have no issues using this theme at all.  It’s very simple and not flashy at all.

  • I’m all about the stock Precision theme. Hands down, no questions asked.  No need for glamor in a BlackBerry theme for me.  I use the 8 shortcut version, as 4 is too little for me. Being basic is key for me.  I’m using a Storm 2 9550 by the way.

  • As I have a Bold 9700, I like the aftermarket bottom docked Dimension series theme.  It brings back good memories of a great time when I used to have a 8700g and later on the Curve 8310.  The theme uses the same old school icons and I am old school. I still own a laser disc player.

  • Ok, I believe a basic theme is best to keep the phone at an optimum running capacity.  With that said, I use the standard Precision theme on my Bold 9700.
