Hands On: IM+ Lite Edition by Shape Services

A few days ago, Shape Services released IM+ Lite Edition which is a free version with advertisements. Better than dropping 50 bucks if you ask me. Any way, we never gave you our feedback on what we saw on the app so here we go. So as I just mentioned the Lite Edition is ad-based and does not offer IMPush/Stay online and Speech Recognition functionality. This may not big a big deal for some of you just looking to get online.

As you are all probably aware there are a lot of free messenger applications. If you have friends on all sorts of messengers, or under different accounts, like business and pleasure for example. with IM+ lite you can have everyone together.

A bit of technical babble and useful information for you using myself as the example -

Here are my current Social Network accounts :

1 x Yahoo
2 x Google talk
1 x Twitter
1 x Skype
1 x Windows live messenger

Now I cant log in to more then one account with the standard Google talk.

Memory will be eaten by applications:

IM+ lite = 1195360 Bytes
Only Google and Windows Live messenger = 2736580 Bytes
google, msn, skype,yahoo, = 3946816 Bytes

This example has not even included Twitter! So as you can see one application for all is better for phone usability and memory. The layout on IM+ lite is really nice, it is simple yet smart, everything is integrated in nicely. You can decide if you want to log in to all, or some accounts on start-up. You can also manually start and end individual chat accounts when you want.

This is by far the best free all in one application I have tried, I have tried a few and have decided not to mention them as I must not be rude! Twitter can be a little annoying when you have lots of people tweeting. thankfully IM+ lite have thought of that and you can turn your alerts off.

So if your like me you will get alerts for replies and direct messages. Then you can look at your timeline when you are ready. IM+ lite shows you when you have messages, they will be in the one place, no need for multiple applications running in the background eating all your memory.
