As you all know, CTIA starts tomorrow morning, and we’re all excited to see what pleasant surprises and releaes will be coming up. For starters, we got the word from Bla1ze over at CrackBerry that Bolt Browser 2.0 will be officially launched tomorrow, adding tabbed browsing capability. Pretty cool right? As Opera Mini goes into its official stage offering that same spec, Bolt Browser has stepped to the plate adding that too, plus their cool widgets.
Stay tuned for more tomorrow as Bolt Browser 2.0 gets released with tabbed browsing.

I’ll go ahead and say I agree with this tip. It’s quite an assumption to make but Verizon clearly states everything in black and white, making it only obvious that this is true. So here’s what’s going on exactly. Push To Talk for Verizon BlackBerry smartphones requires OS 5.0. March 30th is the release date for PTT for the BlackBerry Tour 9630. Given that OS 5.0 is required, the assumption to be made is that OS 5.0 will be coming along with it, beforehand hopefully. Is this too much to assume? Because the way I see it, it seems very straight forward. I couldn’t imagine PTT to release for the Tour while OS 5.0 doesn’t release yet. That would basically say that Verizon is urging its Tour owners to use leaked and other carrier OS 5.0′s.

Yesterday Ehab and I were in need of some navigation going to a barbeque. He used the latest version of VZ Navigator which is Verizon’s GPS navigation application for BlackBerry, costing about $10 per month. Something Ehab noticed was that advertisements displayed when viewing the turn by turn directions list. It said “Sponsored Ad:” the it displayed some text about Bank of America. At first I was confused, because it’s obvious that VZ Navigator is a premium month to month app, but by adding advertisements, why not be freeware? If you’re getting advertisements on your VZ Navigator, let us know how you feel and if you have taken this up with Verizon Wireless.

We don’t know how soon “soon” is, but that’s the word on the street. Before BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express made its launch, we had some leaked details on the BlackBerry Shield service, which is a handy utility that will become convenient for everyone.
Features:
- Remote Device Wipe – in case of loss of the terminal, just log in to BB Shield to remove all data from the device and / or memory card.
- “Lost & Found” Screen – you can customize the sentence on the screen to display that the BlackBerry is lost and show any information about the content (i.e. “I know you have my phone now“).
- The ability to remotely set the password on the BlackBerry
- A loud bell alarm – useful option, even if you’ve lost your BlackBerry (at home) – once you’ve activated this option, your BB will ‘behave’ loud sounding an alarm, which will hopefully prompt a passerby (or yourself) to pick up your lost BlackBerry.
- Tracking capability – based on the GSM transmitters and / or GPS position that is constantly monitored in the BlackBerry unit, and there may be the possibility of seeing it on the map (like Google Maps) from the BB Shield dashboard.
- Backup – create wireless backup and restore, which can be set automatically exercise in the given time intervals
The tip comes from a BlackBerry representative for Sprint, who emailed one of the store managers about the new service being offered in the near future. Customers will feel safer using BlackBerry with the Shield services as the Sprint BlackBerry rep mentions “it will let people have a peace of mind when it comes to their data being safe.” We’d love to have more confirmation on a date, or a more specific tip of any kind, but all we have are the specs and the fact that it is “coming soon.”

TeleNav has remained to be first in line when it comes to GPS apps for BlackBerry. It’s available through many US carriers, such as AT&T which has rebranded it as AT&T Navigator, but we are all aware it is TeleNav underneath it all. So what’s the news on TeleNav these days? It’s a big week for them and all their subscribers as they are officially launching version 6.0 of TeleNav GPS Navigator. On March 24th (yes this Wednesday), AT&T users with the Curve 8900 and Bold 9000 will be able to get this newest version which will be AT&T Navigator as we mentioned earlier. It will appear to be v2.0, but it is indeed TeleNav 6.0 at heart.
