We’re not so surprised by this as we did get word from RIM that the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 could mainly be for domestic US users and the Pearl 9105 (with T9) for overseas (including Europe and why not Germany).  Even though there is no word yet, there is a possibility that they will put out the 9100 but we wouldn’t know, and so far we’ll just go by the rumor we received from RIM.  So Vodafone Germany has just put up on their site that the BlackBerry Pearl 9105 will be coming soon.  Over the next week, we expect to hear carriers announce both the Pearl 3G and Bold 9650 as RIM officially announced them earlier this week at WES.  It doesn’t seem like we’ll be able to pre-order this time but stay tuned for more as Vodafone Germany announces an official launch date.

It is sad that BlackBerry 6 is around the corner and the upcoming BlackBerry Pearl 3G will start off with OS 5.0.  With that said, here’s a leaked OS for the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 and 9105 which haven’t even arrived to retail carrier stores just yet.  If you’re one of those lucky people who are rockin’ the device now nice and early, check it out.  As it is a leak, download and install at your own risk.

It wasn’t big surprising news, but Mike Lazaridis announced the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 coming in North America.  We’ve seen the BlackBerry Bold 9700 before and obviously know that this is nothing more than a color change.  Either way, the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 is sexy and goes great for the summer season in my opinion.  It still rocks a chrome bezel but gets white leather on the back along with white housing and keyboard.  What are your thoughts on it?  We want to know if you’ll consider purchasing it in white even if you already have the original 9700 in black.  Keep in mind that the Pearl 3G is expected to roll out in May so options are there.

The folks over at BBLeaks did it again. We’ve paid too much mind to the BlackBerry Bold 9650 this week, that we almost left the Tour 9630 behind.  The device is still live so OS updates are still rolling out. A great way to end an awesome week at WES would be an OS leak.  Here’s OS 5.0.0.643 for the BlackBerry Tour 9630.  As it is leaked, download and install at your own risk.

We were waiting to see who would be first in line for BlackBerry Pearl 3G pre-orders.  It looks like TELUS is now collecting deposits of $50 at your local Best Buy (in Canada) for the device.  Unfortunately you can’t place an order online, so make your way to your local store.  There’s no word on price yet, but rumors say that it will be $449.99 without a contract and no word on with a contract.  Based on the picture, it’ll be the 9100 and not the 9105.  As you all know, the 9100 is condensed QWERTY (SureType) while the 9105 rocks T9.  This could be just a stock image and more could be available later on.

As you all know by now, Verizon has put out Push To Talk for BlackBerry for about a month now, and it looks like the service isn’t going too well.  Back in the day, Verizon has tried to put out Push To Talk but did not succeed there.  So now they have taken a second bigger initiative by putting out a promotion for free Push To Talk for life.  As long as you join before June 30th, you’ll have it FREE FOR LIFE.

Here’s a basic new app that just arrived to the PocketBerry Store.  AutoWiFi is a simple app that turns your WiFi on and off based on your GPS location.  With AutoWiFi, you can setup multiple locations unlike other apps which limit you from that.  Aside from that main feature, you can have auto off WiFi mode where it’ll automatically turn off when that battery power reaches a certain level.  The app is overall easy to use for everyone and best of all, it’s free.

The IDC report is in, and it looks like RIM comes in 4th place of all mobile handset makers.  So what’s the big deal? RIM hasn’t ever made it in the top 5, but they have this quarter.  Over time, we’ve seen RIM take a bigger approach in introducing the BlackBerry to both corporate users and regular consumers.  Throughout the past year, we saw TV commercials air showing the BlackBerry as a cool phone to have, not just for emailing and calling. So what else made RIM get above and beyond? Good devices launched.  We had the BlackBerry Curve 85xx, which is a starter edition “basic” device that retailed cheap.  I put “basic” in quotes because it did have a lot of features, especially Verizon’s 8530 which rocked out 3G.  Speaking of which, T-Mobile is expected to get a 3G model of the 85xx as well, as we had some leakage from T-Mobile folks during WES.  Next is the BlackBerry Bold 9700.  This phone is just awesome.  It hit hard with AT&T and T-Mobile in the US, reaching out to all former BlackBerry users and even took on a lot of new customers.  Once it launched, users who even came from the BlackBerry Pearl and Curve series switched over as it was the latest and hottest.  It still is in my opinion.  Hit the jump to check out the full IDC reeport

This week, we had a blast covering WES 2010 live.  There wasn’t much of any breaking news this time around which disappointed many folks.  RIM’s breaking news included unveiling two new devices and teasing BlackBerry 6, which our geeks are still calling OS 6.0.  Now the event is over and we wanted to wrap up everything that went on while we were there.

It was a really hectic day yesterday at WES, and we were chatting with our friend Allan who just received notification that the BlackBerry Podcast App is on the Beta Zone now.  After seeing the application for a few minutes, we quickly deleted it and were not impressed at all by it.  If you like listening to podcasts on your BlackBerry and use Viigo or PodTrapper, then you’ll feel the same way about this one here.  There aren’t many channels available and you can’t manually add your favorite podcast channels.  For the time being, use what you’ve been using up until now, or give it a test drive just to see it for yourself at the BlackBerry Beta Zone.
