If you signed up for the BlackBerry Beta Zone, then many of you did get the latest BBM 5.0.1.5 update earlier this morning.  It could be just me, but I noticed a bit of a lag browsing through my BBM buddy list and seeing that avatars and text was a bit enlarged.  Luckily there was an option to make it “old school” single line again which I am very happy to see. Style Changes: 1-2 Lines view

• RIM has went ahead and brought back some classic-ness to your BBM.  Who remembers when buddies on your list were on a single line? That function was brought back, and avatars still show up next to each contact as they just shrunk in size.  Of course you can keep your standard 2 line scenerio which is how BBM 5.0 traditionally is.

Voice Notes Auto Accept

• You can set all your voice notes to accept automatically when received.  Instead of having the download option, you can just have them locally right away and do what you like with them later when sorting it all out.

SMS Contact Integration

• RIM is still working on this aspect it looks like, but they’ve cleaned up the way contacts appear on your BBM buddy list and also have an option to integrate them into BBM or not.

The Good Ol’ Back Button

The back button no longer deletes your whole message when in a BBM.  Instead, it will literally just go back to your buddy list.  This troubled many at first, but I must say I did get used to it, and without it there I must retrain myself with it.

We can all agree that there aren’t that many changes in this version, but some old school features have been added also.  RIM was pushing out BBM on their site for awhile to stay tuned for changes coming soon in the future.  I sure hope the changes are more than this.
