S4BB Limited has just launched a trio of BlackBerry apps for learning languages.  The apps are LearnFrench, LearnSpanish, and LearnItalian.  The applications teach you each of those individual languages in easy ways.  It’s not going to take you A-Z and make you the most fluent native speaker, but this is really handy when needing to learn how to say certain words or phrases in other languages.

At first we were only aware of carriers overseas getting the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 and then later on we found that T-Mobile was getting it in white also as we saw some insider streamline about it.  When announced, many weren’t surprised at all.  Not because it was leaked in the past, but because before Mike made any mention on any of it, the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 danced on the screen side by side with the Pearl 3G and Bold 9650.  Carriers weren’t mentioned, but we do know T-Mobile is in the game for white.  Not a huge announcement for anyone at this time, but we thought we’d give you the heads up on that.

So far at WES, it seems that all our expectations are pretty high as we keep expecting more out of everything that has rolled out so far.  Yesterday we had the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G officially announced, but these were devices we were following for months now.  OS 6.0 was another one we were excited for, but RIM flared a fancy commercial in our faces showing its cool features when in reality everyone wanted to see an actual walk-through.  How about WebKit? Mike Lazardis made a quick note on the WebKit browser while introducing the all new BlackBerry 6 (OS 6.0).  He mentions they have been working hard on it and that it is coming soon.  That’s it.

I’m not calling anyone a copycat here, but I have been a OtterBox Commuter case user for quite some time, and when I got to see these cases first hand yesterday at the BlackBerry booth, it looked too darn familiar.  The case is pretty much like the OtterBox, which isn’t intended to be a bad thing at all.  If anything, we are impressed by how evolved BlackBerry accessories are starting to become.  It was like yesterday when I received my BlackBerry Bold 9700 from RIM and was given a flimsy silicon case (by RIM) that wouldn’t even stay on properly.  Now that we’re seeing OtterBox put out colors in their cases, who do you pick for BlackBerry protection? Is it RIM’s new dual layer casing or OtterBox?

BlackBerry OS 6.0 is what we all call it, but RIM is presenting it as BlackBerry 6.  All the rumors appeared to be real, and Mike Lazaridis did announce OS 6.0 moments ago here at WES 2010.  By the look of the preview we’re seeing on it a touch screen interface, making it more of a iPhone competition.  New integrations such as a search bar on the homescreen are available and accessible at anytime.  This was a native feature within iPhone’s latest OS and RIM has finally realized that it is a good idea to have Search as a homescreen integration, than an application to open up and use.

We had some interesting opinions last night as we asked several representatives from RIM their thoughts on the T9 BlackBerry Pearl 3G.  The big majority says that the device is targeted for those old school users who have adapted to this method for a long time now and have no interest in changing the way they type.  Usually that ends up being Verizon customers who have been brutally stuck with LG or Motorola devices that used the T9 style keypad.

Usually cases, holsters, belt clips, and all sorts of accessories end up appealing more towards men.  Let’s face it.  Just last night in an open group discussion with Ronen and Luis from BerryReview, we discussed OtterBox’s shift from being an all male accessory, to colorful cases targeting toward female audiences.  Yes there are silicon cases women can get in different colors and so on.  And yes women can also favor the OtterBox too.  But generally, rugged cases like that didn’t appeal to them.  RIM hasn’t done so well in the accessory department lately, but today at WES 2010, we were quite shocked.  As seen in the picture above, a whole case line brought to you by RIM is unleashing with the launch of the BlackBerry Pearl 3G.  These purse-like cases make it more fashionable to carry a BlackBerry around, and take protection to a whole new level.  We saw these a lot yesterday morning during the unveiling of the device and furthermore at night while browsing the BlackBerry booths.

This wasn’t major news in any way, but it looks like the eBay application was getting put out big time on this huge life size BlackBerry Bold 9650.  Then again it could be a 9700, but I’ll stick with my guess on 9650.  Any way, we figured it would be a full out working experience but in reality the BlackBerry App World icon and button in App World only worked.  We tried playing around it more, but the booth people were mean and switched it back to the eBay screen in BlackBerry App World with a quickness.

So what we thought was the Atlas 8910 now seems to be the 8980.  Meanwhile, there’s this clamshell BlackBerry 9760 that just won’t go away and get out of nightmares with a similar wacko model number.  It’s enough that we have a BlackBerry Bold out on the market without the signature leather battery door.  Any way, these images just appeared in the CrackBerry forums (click to view more) and they came out pretty clear giving you a better idea of what the size of this clamshell device is.  It is just way too big.  I would feel very obnoxious typing away on a device this big in my hands, wouldn’t you?

Maybe I’m speaking to broadly in saying the commercial will make YOU want it, but certainly makes me want it more.  Perhaps because I have always been a fan of SureType even as a proud Bold 9700 owner.  Either way, the whole commercial puts you through first person view of a person’s day doing regular activities and typing away on the Pearl 3G.  The big key here we see is being able to use one hand to type for the most part.  That’s one thing I miss in BlackBerry.  Sure I can type on QWERTY with one hand, but not as fast as SureType.  As you all know the BlackBerry Pearl 3G is expected to launch in May, and carriers remain unknown until now.  Who’s in for it? SureType (condensed QWERTY as RIM calls it) or T9?
