May, May, May.  A lot is happening in May with RIM.  We have the BlackBerry Pearl 9100 and Bold 9650 launching and now something a little more just to spice things up.  One of our buddies over at T-Mobile sent me this screenshot showing that the BlackBerry Curve 8520 will be launching May 19th in a fuchsia red color.  In the image it looks kind of purple-ish but it’s got to be some shade of red.  It’s not as exciting news as seeing other BlackBerry models hit the streets, but this does show that RIM is not close to ending the life of the Curve 8520 for a little while.

The folks over at BBNews.pl came across an interesting eBay auction.  This isn’t the first time we see it, but once again a BlackBerry Pearl 9100 has made its way on eBay.  This time’s it’s for $550 with a not so courteous $23.99 for shipping.  You can also place your best offer and the seller will get back to you.  The auction looks fishy, although seller’s feedback is legit but item description is just so empty.  Make your own speculations and check it out by clicking the link below.

The folks over at BerryGoodThemes have rolled out another new theme.  A few days ago we put out an awesome coupon code for all their themes being 75% off.  This theme as seen above is called !Butterfly as it obviously suits well with the background as you can see.  It’s very colorful and bright and for some reason, remind me of the clothing store Hollister.

Features:

  • 6 customisable home screen icons
  • full set of custom made icons
  • custom made menus, boxes, cursers, buttons and fonts
  • yellow and orange colour scheme used to match wallpaper
  • bright and vibrant summery wallpapers used
  • no lag or freezing
  • tested for a whole week on my 9000 and had no extra memory or battery leakage!
  • fast and responsive theme
  • screen transistions on all OS 5.0 versions

As we mentioned in the title, !Butterfly for BlackBerry is only 99 cents to purchase until April 25th where it will then get bumped back up to $3.89.

Elecite has just launched an all new theme with a whole new vibe to it.  It’s called Polygon and as you can see it’s unlike any other theme you have seen before.  Polygon puts all your homescreen icons in a “cell system.”  Each and every icon on there represents a category that when clicked, brings up icons for apps in that category.  You’ll have quick access for all your social networking apps, communications, media, and options.  That averages to about 18-19 icons total.  If you have an app that you’d like on the homescreen, you can easily move it there.  Move that one application icon you want to the top of your app list and it will be in the first six slots for the custom category folder.

We just got the word from the folks over at Pinwall that they have just released a new application called Pinvote.  For those unaware, Pinwall took BlackBerry social networking to a whole new level.  How? Basically instead of logging in to a website to interact with other BlackBerry users and exchange pins, Pinwall is a whole mobile application where you view profiles and add folks from there to chat with.  So back to Pinvote, as Ronen from BerryReview agrees, it’s more like Hot or Not, which is a popular picture ranking website where people’s pictures get posted and users from all over the world rate it on a scale of 1-10.  Pinvote is absolutely free to download for BlackBerry.

Leaked Content »

Our friends over at BBLeaks came across some nice leakage yesterday about BIS 3.1.  We had some leaked details about it in the past, but nothing this “official” in a whole PDF document showing all the ins and outs.  According to LouiV, we will NOT be seeing Gmail two way sync until BIS 3.3 or 3.4, as the document does not specify it will be included.  That’s the main feature many of us are waiting for, but we’ll just have to suck it up for now and look forward to other things such as WES and all of RIM’s announcements there.
