Too many BlackBerry applications become productive in the sense that we sit on our couches typing away, staring at these small screens for hours. Fitness applications such as AlphaRunner take it to a whole new level. AlphaRunner is a basic application as you can see by the screenshot above. It will keep track of your time, speed, distance traveled, and calories you burn when running.

Foursquare has been quiet for a bit with updates, especially since as soon as they launched they had plenty of them right away. So it looks like yesterday it went through quite an update, adding a lot of new features like having a friends page, search, “me” settings, and more.
New Features:
- Friends Page – Quickly see your own friends and discover new ones from your user profile page.
- Search – More prominent search. Now search is built into the top of the Places screen.
- “Me” Settings – Simplified user info & settings via the “Me” screen. You can now quickly manage friends, settings, and view your profile.
- My Check-in History - You can now view your check-in history from your “Me” screen.
- Connection – Improved connection support for a variety of carriers and corporate network configurations.
- UI – Updated UI including a unified look and feel.
- Small Tweaks & Fixes – foursquare is always listening to user feedback and making small fixes & tweaks along the way.
Foursquare is free to download for BlackBerry. If you live in a cave and still don’t know what Foursquare is all about, then click here to read more info on it. Otherwise use the link below to download or update Foursquare.

I never really knew much about Dragon until I downloaded it on my iPad, and realized how convenient it would be to have on BlackBerry. Next thing you know Adam from CrackBerry spots that Dragon for Email is available at the BlackBerry App World for free. There’s not much explaining that goes into this as Dragon is simply a speech to text application. Yes that means speak to your BlackBerry and it will type out what you’re saying. The app is only for emailing, as I expect to see more out of it in the coming future. Download your free copy of Dragon for Email from the BlackBerry App World.

As many assumed things would get a bit quiet before WES next week, you were all wrong. Just in from BGR, is the all new BlackBerry 9670. We’re not going to get into all its details, but do know that it is a flip phone rockin’ CDMA, 5MP camera, WiFi, 360×480 display, external display, trackpad, QWERTY keyboard, OS 5.0, microSD, micro USB port, Bluetooth, and a sexy metallic finish on the outside. This isn’t the final model as it is a prototype still. Things can change down the road, but many of us wouldn’t mind the device staying just the way it is.

OS Updates »

We haven’t had much leakage to kick off with this week, so here’s one for the all new BlackBerry Bold 9650 which is not officially available at any carrier retail locations yet. How’s that? This leaked OS 5.0.0.563 was found by the folks over at BBLeaks as it isn’t the first time this device gets one out in the open like this. All this leakage and rumors on a launch get me excited to see what they’ll be announcing about it at WES as well as other devices. Back to the OS, this is a leaked version so download and install at your own risk, assuming you have a Bold 9650 to begin with.

Way back during CES, we got the word about Ford’s all new SYNC service and how they were calibrating it with BlackBerry. Tweeting seems like a far fetched idea to be doing while driving, but imagine the endless (social networking) possibilities here.

Yet another exciting launch over at OtterBox goes on today. The Commuter Series has been extended to the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 82xx. The Commuters are definitely one of my favorite OtterBox cases for every reason in the world. You’ll get amazing protection rockin’ these bad boys, without adding crazy bulk to your BlackBerry. If anything, it makes your Berry more comfortable to use. As I thought the day wouldn’t come, the Pearl Flip did get a Commuter case. We thought it wasn’t possible, but that theory has been proven wrong here. The design is very sleek and they made it fit the Pearl Flip really well. It’s an exciting day over at OtterBox. It’s been a while since we heard anything from the company. Last we heard was their new case they launched during CES for the Palm and later the Curve 83xx Commuter case. Today OtterBox has decided to switch things up a bit and add some color to their cases. As you all know OtterBox cases are all black. The BlackBerry Curve 85xx series now has multi-colored cases. Here’s an example above, but you can check out their site and see all their other colors.
Colors:
- black/ jasper red (silicone/polycarbonate)
- black/ zircon blue (silicone/polycarbonate)
- black/ ardoise slate (silicone/polycarbonate)
- black/ jade green (silicone/polycarbonate)
- black/ scapolite gray (silicone/polycarbonate)

It looks like Boy Genius got his hands on some screenshots of OS 6.0 and a nice walk through on the OS (lucky). If you recall the last fugazy ugly mock-up screenshots that were leaked out of OS 6.0, you’ll see the big difference here and appreciate that those old ones. But RIM does it better, so it’s cool.
