Twitter applications for BlackBerry are starting to get quite competitive with each other when it comes to functionality.  Twitter for BlackBerry of course needs to step up and make enhancements to their UI and add features as well.  Just in from the official BlackBerry Blog, it looks like starting tonight Twitter for BlackBerry will be going through an update and will be available in the Test Center of App World.  Features include:

  • Quote tweets (ability to edit ReTweets)
  • Auto complete for @ usernames
  • Additional photo viewing support
  • View Geotagged Tweets
  • Personal Info Guard
  • Hotkeys for navigation
  • Go to users

There’s not set time, but again RIM suggests the updates will “start” tonight and go through tomorrow evening, whatever that means.  For those who don’t have Twitter for BlackBerry yet, click here to download.  Otherwise, stay tuned for more as Twitter for BlackBerry gets some hot new features.

UPDATE: It’s officially up and you can download v1.0.0.40.  Point your BlackBerry Browser to blackberry.com/twitter
