GPS applications just seem to be getting more and more creative.  Geotagging was a big thing for a while, and now we have Waze rolling out something new like you’ve never seen before.  Waze is a social networking app that’s GPS based which also gives you free turn by turn navigation.  It is all powered by users so if there are changes in the road or detours, Waze will factor that in making your GPS experience real and accurate.  So next time you’re stuck in traffic, alert Waze.  It will then alert others coming your way that there’s traffic congestion.  Waze is a really fun application, and any one who operates a vehicle can find this handy (and fun).  Best part is that it’s free, so what now?

Waze is in a free open beta at the moment.  Use the link below to download today absolutely free.

Just over the weekend we got word that the BlackBerry tablet going by codename “BlackPad” is in some sort of development by RIM.  Now we see some leaked screenshots of a patent from RIM that’s dated April 1st.  No folks, this was not an April Fools joke we missed out on.  The huge debate now is whether this is intended for the BlackPad or the touchscreen version of OS 6.0 ?

Just in from BBLeaks, it looks like some sketches have leaked out in the wild.  From the look of the images, it seems like RIM is developing some new conference calling interface for the BlackBerry.  Will this be coming in OS 6.0?  We won’t go into crazy depth with these screenshots, but as you can see RIM is putting some neat features together, more of them seem to be “in call” options.

With the teaser we got last week at WES 2010′s first keynote on OS 6.0, we have an even bigger one tonight.  Here’s the BlackBerry Slider running OS 6.0.  The images are blurry, but it’s pretty clear that it is OS 6.0.  I don’t know how confident I feel about this BlackBerry Slider yet, but we were just mentioning today how an April date for the device was rumored and never came.  Will we see a May announcement?  We know that the OS is coming next quarter, so we’ll have to hang tight and wait.  I just hope it’s not one of those devices like the Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G which will be OS 5.0 shortly and then soon updated to OS 6.0.  And one more thing, I’m still stuck in geek mode and will probably keep calling it OS 6.0 even though it’s “BlackBerry 6″ now.

We finally found that the What Makes a Super App video is up on YouTube as we watched it firsthand during RIM’s live keynote.  The whole video seemed to praise RIM’s applications that they considered “super” ones just a little too much.  But in any case, if you are interested in knowing what makes a super app, feel free to watch this clip.

So a device gets announced by RIM and carriers have agreed to launch it sometime in May.  What else do you need? FCC approval sounds pretty accurate.  We just got the word from Engadget that the BlackBerry Bold 9650 just got FCC approval, so to all of you waiting for this reanimated version of the Tour 9630, don’t worry it is still good to go.  We weren’t expecting something otherwise, but as it has just gone through approval we figured that many of you following the device close until launch date would like to know.

This one came out of the blue during the WES 2010 party (featuring will.i.am) as the CrackBerry team came out of nowhere with a camera and microphone asking me about what I thought about the all new BlackBerry 6 teaser we were shown earlier that morning along with the BlackBerry Pearl 3G.  Of course my opinionated self was ready vent out so I spoke out. Other bloggers were interviewed as well, showing what everyone has to say about them.  It’s an interesting yet comical video to watch.  It gave us all a chance to say how we felt more or so off the record, and not so much what the world (especially RIM) wants to hear.  Overall, definitely a job well done on this Bloggers Reaction video by CrackBerry.  Also, I never knew what that “red fading into black” Pearl 3G color was called, as Kevin told me it was Fusion Red, and later in the video I found that Ronen from BerryReview started that going.

Rumors are a tough gig to deal with, but as long as they aren’t ever considered anything beyond that, we can bare it just fine.  In the middle of March, the CEO of the company that makes parts for RIM noted in an interview that the BlackBerry “T” is the next BlackBerry to be launched next month.  We talked about the new name “T” and its rumored launch date but heard nothing about the device and certainly not at WES obviously.  If you recall, we did say we wanted to see the BlackBerry T get announced at WES, as it wasn’t so far out of the question in our opinion.  I guess it was too much to expect as RIM only showed us two devices we knew everything about already months before (Pearl 3G, Bold 9650).

I didn’t like it at first, which is why i spent way too much time at the BlackBerry Showcase at WES last week just analyzing they keys and seeing if it worked for me. It’s a hard trend to follow with RIM in seeing which devices they implement their media keys in.  The BlackBerry Bold 9700 of course did not as it is intended to be the more business end user device, while the Curve 8500 series seems to be more fashionable for the younger crowd and does have them available.  Now the Pearl 3G gets it next in line.  I know the Pearl 3G has made itself look really hot and trendy for the younger crowd, but there are many older business users who may want to use the device as well.

Last week at WES we saw various new cases lined up by RIM that will certainly be available for the two upcoming devices.  One of which is the BlackBerry Bold 9650, which seemed to have a interesting mix of opinions during the conference.  One of the new designed cases is the sleeve.  We’ve had sleeves in the past and we saw RIM push it on the BlackBerry Curve 83xx series but shoving it in every box, but not many folks used it.  Now they have redesigned it making it a lot more fashionable (the color and overall design).  You see it up there in white as on the opposite side is the more serious black holster case which reminds me very much of what’s already available for both the Tour 9630 and Bold 9700.  With RIM’s new sleeve accessory, would you give them a shot, use your holster, or just keep your BlackBerry naked?

By the way, sorry for the image quality on this one, RIM kept going on with the projection light show all over the display cases, giving the press a hard time.
