SmartBBattery is a simple “application” that allows you to view your BlackBerry battery level as an application icon anywhere you’d like.  Some folks like seeing the exact number, and hate going by the five piece battery bar, so this is a good handy application that will do it for you.

Here’s a little different vibe for your Google SMS search interface.  I’m hoping you all have data plans being on a BlackBerry, but in the event that you do not, this could be extremely useful.  Also, we suggest having unlimited SMS on your plan as well.  To describe the app simply, TestSearch just makes Google Search via SMS way cooler, in an app format rather than going back and forth in your SMS box.  It’s absolutely free so give it a test run at any time.

Before you all get excited, it’s not completely free.  Sure the application is, but you will be paying for scans.  CogniCard, like many other business card scanner applications offers ten free scans, where you’ll have to pay for any after that.

Features:

  • Upload through multiple channels (BlackBerry, Webcam, File Upload)
  • Convenient management of your business cards and safe backup of all your data
  • Cost-efficient because you only pay what you need instead of spending several hundred dollars on a hardware device.
  • If you are looking for time efficient way to digitize your business cards then CogniCard might be the right product for you. The best is if you try CogniCard with the free trial and see how convenient it is to use this approach instead of manually capturing the information.

So download the application today, get your free ten scans, then see if the prices are legitimate for you.  As for the pricing plans, you can get 20 credits for 5 dollars, 50 credits for 10 dollars and 150 credits for 25 dollars.

Everyone expected iPad themes to be just the same as the iPhone ones, but apparently not.  I came across this one earlier in the morning and decided to take it for a test run.  A job really well done here as the homescreen is very identical to the iPad’s.  If you’re looking to put lots of third party icons on the home screen, I wouldn’t suggest it since all the other icons are quite tiny.  It’s fully customizable so don’t worry about having locked apps on the homescreen.  iPad 3G for BlackBerry is $3.99 at the PocketBerry Store on sale through May 31st where it’ll then get bumped back up to $4.99

Compatibility: 8900 (Curve), 8910 (Curve), 8930 (Curve), 9630 (Tour), 9650 (Bold), 9700 (Bold)

Twitter applications for BlackBerry are starting to get quite competitive with each other when it comes to functionality.  Twitter for BlackBerry of course needs to step up and make enhancements to their UI and add features as well.  Just in from the official BlackBerry Blog, it looks like starting tonight Twitter for BlackBerry will be going through an update and will be available in the Test Center of App World.  Features include:

  • Quote tweets (ability to edit ReTweets)
  • Auto complete for @ usernames
  • Additional photo viewing support
  • View Geotagged Tweets
  • Personal Info Guard
  • Hotkeys for navigation
  • Go to users

There’s not set time, but again RIM suggests the updates will “start” tonight and go through tomorrow evening, whatever that means.  For those who don’t have Twitter for BlackBerry yet, click here to download.  Otherwise, stay tuned for more as Twitter for BlackBerry gets some hot new features.

UPDATE: It’s officially up and you can download v1.0.0.40.  Point your BlackBerry Browser to blackberry.com/twitter

As the Fuchsia Red BlackBerry Curve 8520 makes its way on shelves today for sale, the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 has gone to the back shelves patiently waiting until May 26th.  I know we’ve seen the white Bold before, but it is pretty darn sexy and many of us are anxious to get our hands on one.  T-Mobile is the first US carrier to get the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 as AT&T has fell behind in that.  So here are the first images, these are all reals and not dummy devices.

Yesterday we let you know that Virgin Mobile was getting the BlackBerry Pearl 3G pretty soon with no word yet on their website just yet.  Today we popped our heads in only to see that their site has been updated and they have added the device, listing it as “coming soon.”  The pricing we gave yesterday was accurate as it is $49.99 with a 3 year contract, and $349.99 with a 30 day contract.
