Here’s a random application we came across on our app store.  Tawkon promises that you’ll be able to monitor your radiation levels on your BlackBerry.  It gives you easy flow charts to follow as well as real time indication of the different levels of radiation exposure.  I don’t know about you, but this sort of application would get me too worried, but there are folks out there who would find real interest in it.

Features:

  • Real-time indication of high (red), moderate (yellow), low (green) exposure to mobile phone radiation
  • Action prompts (subtle suggestions with visual, audio or vibration alerts) to minimize radiation in real-time
  • Feedback – confirming whether a recommended action was effective in reducing radiation exposure
  • Statistics to monitor actual and avoided radiation over the last call, day, week, month and six months

Tawkon is available at the PocketBerry App Store for only $9.99.  Use the link below the screenshots to purchase today.

Back in April, we let you know about the Fuchsia colored BlackBerry Curve 8520 coming to T-Mobile.  The date was and still is set to be in May.  There’s a lot of talk on forums and all over the web about the device coming soon or not, so we’re reassuring you all about it as we showed you the live screenshot from the internal T-Mobile streamline.  The date says May 19th, and we confirmed with out T-Mobile sources if this was still to be true.  So far so good and we should see this red Fuchsia colored BlackBerry Curve 8520 hit the streets on time.  The device is in stock right now but not on shelves until May 19th.  We received a few more shots of the actual live device (NOT dummy) below including the streamline from T-Mobile which we posted back in April.  So folks who are waiting or questioning, the device is coming and it is here.

The price was obvious for us as we assumed the carriers would put it out the same as the previous BlackBerry Tour 9630.  The early launch was expected too as we heard various rumors of it coming out before the official announcement said it would on May 23rd.  For all you Sprint customers, the BlackBerry Bold 9650 is officially here.  Nothing from big red Verizon yet, which we’re getting a bit skeptical about, but still have hope as they say it is coming soon.

We’ve been trying to keep as close tabs as possible to what TweetDeck is doing exactly when it comes to the BlackBerry application.  The iPad app they created and launched is a hit success and growing in popularity among users.  Ehab emailed me last night letting me know that TweetDeck put up a blog post in regards to this all new mobile web app.  Their main mission here it create a light and easy Twitter environment for the user hence the reason it is a mobile web application.  TweetDeck mentions benefits such as not having all these resources in the background, saving battery life, and other conveniences.  I don’t about you but I like my SocialScope running in the background informing me about new tweets as they come in.  Any way they are calling out to YOU the users to sign for beta testing until the official launch.  As testing is right around the corner, you can feel free to click here to sign up for it.

Something we forgot to mention yesterday was that the BlackBerry Pearl 3G also got an Impact series case by OtterBox.  We’re just big fans of the Commuter case that we only made the mention of that and didn’t realize the good old Impact case was available for it as well.  As a quick recap, the Impact case is the lowest end OtterBox where it is strictly just the silicon rubber that goes around the device with a screen protector.  If you’re a fan of rubbers, the you definitely want to make sure you hit up an OtterBox as they make the classiest and most well designed ones out there.  They’re only $19.99 to buy directly from OtterBox.  Hit the link below to start your shopping!

Just as T-Mobile gets the white dummy devices in, Rogers gets the real deal.  I guess the US will always be one step behind.  So the wait is over for all you Rogers customers.  The BlackBerry Bold 9700 is now officially available in white.  According to rumors, the demand is really high.  In addition, it’s at a not so bad price of $549.99 no strings attached and $149.99 with contract.  So expect supplies to run out quick.  If you haven’t made your way to a local Rogers dealer or Best Buy, you should do so soon!

T-Mobile is finally getting ready for the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in white.  This time we’re getting closer than we have before with all the screenshots on the streamline.  Stores are now receiving dummy devices to put out on display once its out.  Something strange which no one else realized is that the May 5th launch never came.  That’s the latest we had before as we saw it on the T-Mobile streamline.  In reality, after a few weeks, that “May 5th” release date changed to “Coming Soon” instead.  So now store reps have received these dummy white Bold 9700 devices but cannot put them out on display until they are told to by corporate.  One of our T-Mobile buddies suggests a May 29th date being heard around but there is no confirmation just yet.

We haven’t been following so much with theme requests lately with WES 2010 and all the leakage going around in the BlackBerry world.  Not to say things are calm now, but we can fit in a few themes here and there that you folks are requesting via email.  So here’s a Juicy Couture theme we came across from Cool BlackBerry Themes that’s absolutely free.  As we did have requests for the 8900, Bold 9700 and Storm, we have the two for now.  Use the links below to download over the air.

Looking to quit smoking or cut down? This application won’t do that for you on its own of course but it does assist you.  Smoke Tracker helps you see how many cigarettes you smoke.  It’s great for those who would like to reduce how much they smoke or stop smoking completely.  When seeing it in statistic format, one realizes they have had high consumption, never too little, allowing control of how much to take in.  Again the app only tells you the numbers so don’t assume you’ll quit just by dropping this app in your downloads folder.  Another cool thing about it is that you can set a goal.  You can track your smoking over a period of time and get a full summary of logs in graph format.

Features:

  • You can keep track of your smoking habit more than 3 years.
  • Attractive user interface.
  • You can set the goal.
  • Easy view smoke variations using graphs and logs.

Smoke Tracker is currently on sale at the PocketBerry Store for only $3.99 until May 31st.  After that, expect to dish out $10.99.

Rumors »

[14 May 2010 | No Comment | ]

So according to all the rumors floating around, we were told that OS 6.0 aka BlackBerry 6 is expected to launch sometime in June.  Now was this intended for the actual OS or a device with OS pre-installed?  According to rumors that came from RIM sources, the BlackBerry Bold 9800 (slider) is expected to hit the streets in June with AT&T.  And yes OS 6.0 will be present as we saw in the leaked video (which has now been removed off the web).  The device will be exclusive to AT&T for the time being, with a chance of Sprint by Q4.  It’s funny seeing the Bold 9800 come in June alongside with the new iPhone that is expected to launch by then too.  Talk about stealing the spotlight.

Again, since these are still rumors, there’s always chance for things happening otherwise.  As we move along in this month, we should be seeing more confirmed leakage indicating a release of the BlackBerry Bold 9800.
