Last week at the BlackBerry App World event in New York, we were given a chance to chat with the folks over at DriveSafe.ly.  In seeing an in depth overview of the app, I was given the opportunity to see the Caller ID Reader application that they officially launched today.  Caller ID Reader is really handy as it reads to you both the caller’s name and phone number loud on your speaker when someone calls.  Traditionally, we know about DriveSafe.ly that reads messages including emails and texts to you out loud, so this Caller ID Reader app handles the calling portion.  There’s both a free and premium version, as we were warned that the freebie does prompt you to upgrade to the premium after using it a few times, but you can still continue using it with no problem if you don’t mind the solicitation.  If you’re looking to buy it, it’s only $3.95 to own and can be purchased at calleridreader.com.  Hit the jump for the full press release.

Incoming Caller’s Name Now Read Aloud with Caller ID Reader™ App
No More Looking at Mobile Phones While Driving to See Who’s Calling

Newark, NJ (June 23, 2010) ‐ iSpeech®, creator of DriveSafe.ly™, the award‐winning, free mobile app aimed to stop distracted driving, is announcing Caller ID Reader™ App. The new mobile application reads aloud the caller’s name or phone number of all incoming calls. Caller ID Reader™ is an easy solution for BlackBerry® and Android® device users to know who’s calling without having to take their eyes off the road or other tasks at hand. Caller ID Reader™ is compatible with most popular Bluetooth devices to make driving even safer by helping to stop distracted driving. Caller ID Reader™ combined with DriveSafe.ly™ promotes safe driving by reading aloud an incoming caller’s name or number as well as incoming text messages (SMS) and email messages.

The free version of the Caller ID Reader™ app reads the incoming caller’s name or phone number with an upgrade message every third use. The free version can be upgraded to Caller ID Reader™ Pro, which removes the upgrade message for $3.95 semi‐annually or $9.95 one time. Both the free and pro version are available on BlackBerry App World, Android Market, CallerIDReaderApp.com and other app stores and platforms soon.

“Caller ID Reader™ App is a simple way to eliminate the need to look at your mobile phone while driving,” says Heath Ahrens, iSpeech CEO. “With DriveSafe.ly™ reading out emails and SMS messages and Caller ID Reader™ speaking out the incoming caller’s name, there is really no excuse to look at your phone while driving.”

The use of wireless devices and their accessories while driving may cause distraction. iSpeech®, Inc. does not encourage or endorse texting while driving or the unsafe use of any device while driving. Use of devices should be discontinued if they interfere with your driving concentration. Additionally, the use of wireless devices and their accessories may be prohibited or restricted in certain areas. Always obey the laws and regulations on the
use of these products.
