The Waze World Cup Challenge isn’t your average giveaway. As you all know Waze is the free turn by turn navigation application for BlackBerry that integrates social networking into it. We got the word from them today that they are doing an awesome giveaway challenge. Here’s how it goes:
The contest is about munching soccer ball ‘road goodies’ (small icons scattered along the waze maps worth points when driven over) for the win. And similar to the world cup strubtire, the 100 + countries where there are waze users will be competing tournament style, in different phases of the game. Soccer balls will be distributed all over the map and the countries that munch the most soccer ball road goodies will advance to the next round. The first round includes everyone, the second round is the sweet 16 and the third and final round is the final four.
Three iPads will be given out to the final winners. The game sounds fun, and there’s no reason not to participate so give it a shot.

Imagine that person picking up a Pearl 3G as a first BlackBerry device. So they end up downloading App World and want to get some themes going on. Oops — themes are not supported, but are displayed there. How long do you think it will be until the person figures out that they are there by mistake? Kyle from BlackBerry Cool brings up a good point mentioning that the theme builder has not yet been released for developers yet, and the device made its way out already. It doesn’t seem to be much of a problem for the Bold 9650 as it is in the 96xx family so you can sort of get away with some of the themes. As for the Pearl 3G, what’s going on? Are we waiting for an US launch of the device before it reaches out?

I’m a huge fan of this all new BlackBerry Kepler 9300. RIM’s idea of a basic BlackBerry was great in my opinion, but they just kept it way too basic with the 8500 series. At least with the Kepler 9300, we see a lot more “luxury” added to it with the chrome around the bezel and the trackpad. To be straight forward, the device doesn’t look cheap anymore. Here are some new leaked images from our friends over at BBLeaks.

With the BlackBerry Bold 9650 supporting OpenGL and the previously released Storm 2, the gaming experience has obviously been enhanced. We spotted a group of new 3D OpenGL games over at the PocketBerry Store that some of you may like. Here’s a small collection of them, as you may find some worth while of buying.
- 3D Nine Hole Golf >>
- 3D Super-G Stunt >>
- 3D Volcano Island >>
- 3D Winter Game Fantasy >>
- 3D Snow Rally Canada >>
- 3D Snow Rally City Stage >>
Before purchasing any, make sure your device is compatible. So far I’ve tried the Nine Hole Golf and Volcano Island which both are exciting and fun to play. The graphics are great too, and it’s a big step up from what we were used to before.

On Twitter, we saw some funny words being exchanged, and were sort of hinted that Driphter would be getting some exclusive news soon. So we kept our eyes closed and found exactly what the surprise was. Finally, we see more on the 9670 Clamshell. We’ve seen lots on the BlackBerry Bold 9800, but not enough for this bad boy. We have this video and another after hitting the jump on OS 6.0 with the clamshell (courtesy of Driphter).
