Our friends over at Berrytimes.cn put up a whole video walk through on BlackBerry 6 aka OS 6.0 over the weekend.  Although it isn’t in English, nothing beats visuals — so we have a pretty good idea now of what to expect.  Hit the jump to view the full video.

Foursquare competition anyone? I think it will take more to beat it, especially now that Foursquare holds a high name, and has gained popularity across the world.  So here’s Gowalla, similar for Foursquare, but many folks are saying better.  You all can be the judge of that, and download this new app which is available in open beta.

We’re excited to know that Trillian is now in open beta.  A few weeks ago we let you know that it was coming soon, and it looks like the day has finally come.  For those unaware, Trillian is an all in one instant messenger application available for Windows, and is now in development for Mac OS and BlackBerry.  We haven’t played around with the application yet, but are excited to play around with it.  Special thanks to Roger for sending this one in.

We got the word from The Jared Company on a new free application they recently launched called One Touch Launcher.  This one reminds me of QuickLaunch as it gives you access to your applications and basic functions, although One Touch Launcher has it locked where QuickLaunch you can customize however you want.  With One Touch Launcher, you can set one of you convenience keys to open it where it’ll show the menu as seen above in the screenshot.  The order goes: Send Email, Send SMS, Messages, VoiceMail, Browser, Contacts, Calendar, Search, Camera, Video, and Options.  It’s a free application and I encourage you to give it a try.  Use the link below to download over the air (OTA).

ThinkLink, a Palo Alto IT company, announced last week the introduction of a a new app, called FaceCash. FaceCash is an app available for BlackBerry smartphones as well as the iPhone and Android which provides a way for consumers to pay for items using just a barcode on their phone. The process is simple and vastly cheaper than using credit cards, making this application- the first in a group of applications coming from Think, collectively dubbed the ThinkLink integrated payment and accounting system- a potentially powerful tool in simplifying the lives of countless smartphone users.

Here’s a roll of more BlackBerry Bold 9800 Slider images that we got over from our friends at Berrytimes.cn.  These seem to be the clearest ones out so far as they are high definition and certainly give us a better idea as to what to expect from it when it releases.  I’m not so sure of how current these pictures are as it does not show the word “Bold” on the back in between the camera and flash.  Either way, we get to see the dial pad’s cosmetics here which we didn’t see clearly before.  Another thing I noticed is that there’s a T-Mobile SIM card being used here.  Is this just an unlocked device or will we be seeing it come to T-Mobile after or even alongside with AT&T?

Device Images & Info, Reviews »

[4 Jun 2010 | 5 Comments | ]

As the T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700 in white just released, I decided to try it out and see how I liked it.  Of course it’s the same as the regular Bold 9700 in black, but having another color takes some getting used to, and there’s always small bits and pieces that change.  Cass Chin took some nice photos of device, and while going through them, he brought something to my attention.  The leather on the battery door picks up a lot of dirt, and it’s not so easy to clean.  You’ll see a lot of it in the images if you look close enough.  It starts all around the edges and then will slowly makes its way in until it’s all pretty much off white.  There’s something we take for granted when having a black Bold 9700 where the only dirt or smudges we seem to notice is on the screen or on the chrome bezel.  We’re not going to go through a full review here, as we’ve been well acquainted with the BlackBerry Bold 9700 and this is just a cosmetic change in color.  Although I will mention that 5.0.0.586 by T-Mobile is a solid to go with and is a lot better than AT&T’s 5.0.0.405 (obviously).  Movement between different applications and menu seem to be a lot more responsive.  It wouldn’t be a bad idea for any of you to update to it.  Hit the jump to continue reading and to check out more images.

Ever since we’ve been teased with OS 6 aka BlackBerry 6, theme builders have been going at it in attempts to replicate what we saw into actual themes.  We had one about a month ago by WJD Designs and it allowed you to swipe back and forth between screens.  This one by MMMOOO keeps your theme pretty much standard like the Precision, but changes up all your homescreen icons instead to look like OS 6.  You get six customizable icons on the homescreen and quick access to your sound profiles up top where your application bar will fade down.  If you’re looking for a simple theme for your BlackBerry without all the crazy graphics, OS 6 by MMMOOO is great way to go.  OS 6 is only $3.99 to purchase from the PocketBerry Store.

The BlackBerry Pearl 3G just got a leak along with the Bold 9650 today.  This one’s 5.0.0.748, ranking a little higher than the Bold, but still both up there.  This one was leaked out by the folks over at BBLeaks who put out quite a few download links (as you can see below).  This version is leaked and not official so download it at your own risk.  It works for both the 9100 and 9105.

Just when we thought it was the end of OS 5.0, it looks like it has just been advanced once again.  The BlackBerry Bold 9650 gets a leaked OS 5.0.0.732 today, which many found to be odd with such a high ending number.  Any way, this is a leak so download and install at your own risk.  BBLeaks gathered 8 different download links you can grab it at, so feel free to use any one of them.  Enjoy.
