As the BlackBerry Pearl 3G is now theme ready, we decided to post one up today just for those who still are in pursuit of them and haven’t found any yet.  Now we’re not going to be throwing Pearl 3G specific themes like this, but it is a special occasion as the doors have opened yesterday for theme builders to include the device in their themes.  BerryGoodThemes let us know that they are already ahead of the game in putting out Pearl 3G themes so here’s one of their famous ones called !Classic Zen Fixed Calendar.  It’s currently on sale now for 3 bucks until June 27th.  It is also compatible with all other OS 5.0 devices, so feel free to check it out even if you don’t have a Pearl.

Based on this official press release from US Cellular that CrackBerry stumbled upon, it looks like a flip phone BlackBerry is headed their way.  We wished the day would never come, but oh well.

“The carrier will release the BlackBerry Bold in early August and later this year it will offer a BlackBerry flip smartphone with a full QWERTY keyboard. U.S. Cellular is also releasing new touch screen devices like the LG Banter Touch featuring a 3-inch touch display and side-sliding QWERTY keyboard.”

There’s a little excerpt from the official press release, so it’s quite clear that a flip Berry is coming.  We already knew about the Bold 9650 heading their way so it’s nothing new to us.  So take it as you want, but I’m pretty sure this is the clamshell 9670.  Hit the jump for the full press release.

It’s about time.  The devices have been out for too long to be left out of the themes loop.  I can imagine how many Pearl 3G users were angered by themes showing up in App World but weren’t compatible.  Bold 9650 owners were able to cope a bit around it as some Tour themes did work.  If you’re a theme builder and don’t know about the new update by now, hit the link below to log in and download the new BlackBerry Theme Studio which supports both the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and Pearl 3G.

We’ve seen so much on the latest BlackBerry 9800 Slider (Bold/Torch), but this time it’s good.  Engadget got some nice pictures of the device as we posted some of them here.  We’re traditionally used to the basic angles (front, back, and sides) but here we see them in every possible angle.  Head over to Engadget for more pictures.

Browsing via BlackBerry? Sorry no mobile link!

This was something funny spotted on MTV and Mauricio posted about it earlier today.  The new famous rapper Drake had a feature on MTV and in this clip you’ll see how important it is for him to write his tracks up on his BlackBerry.  He pretty much says he can’t do pen and paper, and that his thumbs were made for the BlackBerry.  I can’t really tell which one he’s using, but it looks to be a Bold 9700.  I assume that because it is a popular BlackBerry for everyone, but celebs just love it too.  It looks like one as well, but with the dark light it’s hard to tell.  I’ll be surprised if he’s working a 8500 series.

We were hoping to see something about this at WES this year, but didn’t of course.  Our friends over at BBNews.pl got their hands on some nice screenshots showing you what BlackBerry Shield is all about.  For those unaware, Shield is supposed to be RIM’s new service that allows you to remotely track and wipe your BlackBerry device in the event of it being lost or stolen.  Hit the jump for a better thumbnail view along with some leaked specs on Shield.

Not too long ago, we let you know about Bitbop, the application for BlackBerry that lets you watch on-demand television shows.  It looks like they’re now out of beta and pricing plans of been unveiled.  For unlimited access, they are asking for $9.99 a month, which does not seem so bad at all.  Many folks were expecting to see it be more, but it’s flat out at 10 bucks.  With a free trial, you can watch 3 shows of your choice over a 7 day period, where you’ll then have to subscribe for the monthly service to continue using it after that.  Hit the link below to get your Bitbop on.

I honestly didn’t see this to be a huge deal.  After all, adding more hype to BlackBerry 6 (OS 6) could only be good, and calls for more to get newer BlackBerry devices that are capable for it.  Kyle from BlackBerry Cool got the word fro WJD Designs that their OS 6 theme has been pulled from MobiHand.  Reason?  Kyle goes into an in-depth explanation as to why RIM has done this.  MobiHand has made a statement to clear things up a bit:

“MobiHand has been contacted in the past about similar products, with a claim of infringement. We are not staffed to evaluate such claims, and in order to minimize risk, we remove products from stores where we believe they pose a risk of infringement. We’re not taking a stand on the appropriateness or legality of these products, only on our need to play it safe vis a vis risk of possible infringement.”

Either way, celebrating OS 6 and imitating it through themes does not seem so bad to me.  RIM takes it a little more serious I guess, and it’s something we’ll just have to deal with.  Some of you went ahead and purchased OS 6 themes before in the past and still have them stored so you’re good.  There are still some others remaining, and we have the links below for you to check them out.  Perhaps RIM will knock them down one by one but they’re live as we are posting this now, so get your themes while you can.  One’s a freebie, and the other is a premium.
