In celebrating Fathers Day, T-Mobile is taking a pretty crazy marketing strategy. All their phones (yes ALL of them) will be free for a full day on June 19th. Of course prepaid plans don’t apply and it must be a 2-year contract. To give you a rough idea, T-Mobile currently has the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in both black and white, along with the Curve 8520 in various colors. The phone is free, so go for the Bold!

As you all know, there’s a possibility of a name change of the BlackBerry Bold 9800 slider which was supposed to launch this month. According to CrackBerry, the new name is the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Many folks are disappointed in how RIM is branding Bold in just about any device, and the 9650 alongside with this 9800 were perfect examples. I don’t know how I feel about the name Torch, but it’s better than being added to the Bold family for obvious reasons. What do you think? case your vote below. This isn’t direct BlackBerry related, but most of your BlackBerry devices do have WiFi. Currently I’m using the white BlackBerry Bold 9700 on the T-Mobile network (just temporariliy because I love it in white) and as the service is so-so in my location, I always connect to Starbucks WiFi powered by AT&T. Traditionally I’d have to log in to my Starbucks account when on site, but according to Starbucks’ latest tweet, all WiFi will now be free for all US locations. Now I can use my UMA automatically when I’m there and don’t have to keep using my Starbucks card to have internet access there. Free WiFi at Starbucks officially starts July 1st so get your BlackBerry, laptop, or whatever other electronics you have ready for some free internet action.

How far could we possibly be from the BlackBerry Bold 9800 officially launching? We’ve seen the device for months now, and even caught a few nice images of it AT&T branded. This isn’t breaking news but something I just wanted to bring up to all you folks. I was downloading an app at the PocketBerry Store, and went to select my device on the left hand side only to see that the BlackBerry 9800 is listed there. The funniest part I saw was that Mobihand used the oldest pictures of the slider which came out before we even knew it was going to be branded as a Bold. As for compatibility, the App Store is showing lots of apps and accessories compatible, but we can’t go by that especially with the Pearl 9100 showing themes that aren’t compatible.

I was fond of the Case-Mate Fuel Case for a while and always thought they ought to make a housing for the BlackBerry that charges your phone without the belt clip portion. So Case-Mate did indeed do so with the Fuel Lite series here. I started testing over the last few days finding both pros and cons in the device. I used a white BlackBerry Bold 9700 for pictures just so you can actually see the case and its thickness. When it’s all black, it meshes very well together and it isn’t even really noticed when glancing at it. So white Bold users – prepare to be noticed with one of these bad boys on. Hit the jump for more pictures and our full review on the Case-Mate Fuel Lite case for the BlackBerry Bold 9700.
