Just in from the official BlackBerry blog, some new official screenshots of BlackBerry 6 surface.  These are all multimedia related showing you how music, pictures, videos, and overall entertainment has been improved in the new OS.  Some small things I like so far is the new album scrolling for music and ability to mark (check) multiple images at the same time.  Something new and improved is the Video Podcasting.  That’s something I definitely look forward to seeing how smooth it will work.  We hope features like that work over the network and not just WiFi.  And is that a YouTube uploader I see? Yes it is.  You’ll be able to upload YouTube videos smoothly now from your native OS.  Also, check out the camera screenshot.  There’s a whole new UI for the camera now as RIM says you’ll be able to take pictures faster now.  It isn’t shutter I don’t believe, but if we can get faster speeds in taking pictures, we would all very much appreciate that over the minute lag we get now.  More images and info after the jump!

Keep an eye out folks as users in other regions  and BBOS have reported BlackBerry Messenger v5.0.1.32 coming to the Test Center in BlackBerry App World.  Originally, we’ve had this same version in the BlackBerry Beta Zone, but it looks like it is to be released publicly in the Test Center soon.  We’re not sure of any details at all as to when this could be happening but if you do end up seeing anything, shoot us an email with a screenshot or drop a line in the comments!

But keep in mind, since we don’t have much of anything other than the screenshot we saw of the version in App World, this remains to be a rumor right now until we see it actually available.  So keep you eyes open for anything coming up new in the Test Center (specifically BBM)!

Text n’ Drive is NOT an application that physically lets you text and drive at the same time.  I suggest a name change of the application, but hopefully folks won’t get the wrong idea resulting in a law suit against the company!  So Text n’ Drive is another alternative to DriveSafe.ly that reads your emails and SMS out loud (only up to 500 words).  There is of course a premium version that allows you to reply by voice to your emails and texts.

Features:

  • Free version: Reads emails and SMS out loud (up to 500 words)
  • Pro version: Reply by Voice to your emails and SMS.
  • No typing required – just SPEAK!
  • Compatible with Web, POP3, and IMAP email providers
  • Easy to use software – start the app and you’re ready to go
  • Text-to-speech technology
  • Has NO impact on the speed of your phone – does not slow it down at all!

SugarSync is a very popular app used for backups of data.  The application then got extended to BlackBerry which seemed to be very limited as it didn’t do as much as the desktop app did.  Last time around in February, SugarSync  added the “upload by email” feature. We got the word from Ronen over at BerryReview that they have just updated their BlackBerry application with some nice new features:

  • Music Streaming: Now, stream all your tunes from the cloud. Even cooler – you aren’t limited to one song at a time. Just start playing the first song in an album and SugarSync will play through the complete album – even in the background. Whether you’re traveling away from home or commuting, SugarSync gives you all your music at your fingertips.
  • Email auto-complete: This is a true convenience. Instead of having to type in a complete e-mail address, just start typing and we’ll fetch it for you from your address book. So much better than cut-and-paste or manually typing out the entire e-mail.
  • Bug cleaning. No software will ever be bug-free, but we continue to strive to make your experience as easy and smooth as possible.

It’s been a while since we saw an update from Foursquare, but during the BlackBerry App World event in NYC that we attended, the PR folks did mention that a new update would be coming within about a month.  So here it is at last, as promised by the Foursquare team.  Here’s the full new list of updates:

  • Sort Checkins – Quickly sort your nearby check-ins by time (most recent check-in) or by distance (closest check-in).
  • Photo Upload – Now change/upload a profile photo via your BlackBerry!
  • See Specials Nearby – Now you can see what venues feature specials when searching for what’s nearby.
  • BlackBerry Maps Integration – From a venue details page, click on the Google map tile and automatically get launched into BlackBerry maps.
  • Improved Battery Life – foursquare is always focused on battery performance and has made a few improvements.
  • Improved Location Support – Additional improvements have been made to location, allowing for better location support when checking in.
  • Small Tweaks & Fixes – foursquare is always listening to user feedback and making small fixes & tweaks along the way.
  • Note from Mac: app seems to move a lot quicker than before but it could just be me!

To download Foursquare or update it, point your BlackBerry Browser to foursquare.com/blackberry

There’s one too many cases available for BlackBerry.  Personally I’ve been switching between OtterBox and Case-Mate Barely There, and now I’ve stumbled upon these new iSkins which I think I’ll give a shot.  They’ve been around for quite a while for Apple products, but they have recently extended their product line to BlackBerry now.  Again, I haven’t tried these first hand yet, but based on user reviews, people seem to be very happy with them.  These new iSkin vibes come in many unique colors and fit each BlackBerry tightly, not adding any extra bulk.  Their main punch line here is “You’ll experience the powerful shock absorption of a hard case, but with the fashionably sleek, smooth aesthetics of a soft case.”

We catered to the BlackBerry Bold 9700 last time when we put up 5 free games, so next in line is the Bold 9650.  These are all freebie games, so don’t expect anything crazy, although some of these you might recognize (Zelda) and get quite frenzy about.

Of course as we guessed, the majority did say yes.  That answer though comes more from people answering it in the sense that they want to indeed see BBM implemented in the tablet, rather than thinking it through on whether or not it will be offered.  So what do we know so far about this BlackBerry tablet? Not much at all other than a few specs and the fact that it will have an BlackBerry OS on it.  BlackBerry Messenger would be nice to have it, but even beyond this poll, it seems to be quite a mystery as whether or not RIM will implement a registered PIN to each device allowing BlackBerry Messenger to be there.  A crazy thought I had was that it would be nice to be able to use your current BlackBerry BBM on the tablet, but that is much to ask and it’s too far fetched of an idea.  So the poll results for whether or not the BlackBerry tablet will have BBM goes as follows:

  • Yes – 86%
  • No – 10%
  • I don’t care – 4%

This is the second best Deal of the Day offer on a theme we’ve seen yet.  We had 84 cent specials last week, but now Real iBerry Blocks which is usually $6.99 is now only 98 cents.  If you’re looking for a cool iPhone theme, then this is good for you as it sells its self for such a low price.
