BlackBook is an app that lets you keep your contacts private with this “private contact list” it provides. There’s no icon for the application or anything. Instead it is a sequence of buttons pushed (which you customize) that will make that phone book come up. So any calls or contacts you’d like confidential can remain hidden on your phone without anyone seeing it or noticing it at all. So if you are one who needs to sneak around or just lead that private life, then check out BlackBook, as it is only $2.49 today only as an App Deal of the Day special.

UPDATE: Beta Zone Server seems to be full. Guessing many of you have received the green light to download App World 2.0?
We just got the word that BlackBerry App World 2.0 has just made it into the BlackBerry Beta Zone. We’re a little excited to try this out as we did get a bit of a hands on experience at the App World event in New York last month where it was introduced. So if you are currently a member of the BlackBerry Beta Zone, tune in and see if you’re eligible. You should have received an email by now, but if not double check any way. Have any of you been chosen to try out the app? Drop us a line!

Free Applications »

There’s a new free application on the block called face2face. Firstly, I want to say how much I love applications that combine things together like this. SocialScope being one where Twitter, Facebook, and Foursquare are all in one. This new one called face2face combines Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn all in one application. So give it a shot and let us know what you think!
Thanks to everyone who sent this one in!

We tried getting an image from some AT&T buddies of ours, but it looks like AT&T employees have been told not to and been giving warnings as to what would happen if they did. Gizmodo posted up a picture yesterday which I came across now in pursuit of finding out who had an image of this big mystery display. So a mystery stand at the AT&T store, with a mystery AT&T and RIM event August 3rd. Is there any connection here? There is Dell’s Android device on the way, but it seems too much of a coincidence that RIM has their event and this mystery stand shows up at AT&T stores. I’ll go ahead and say yes this is the 9800. So for now, hype is being built up as they mystery stand remains, and no one is allowed to look and see what is inside. We are going to visit an AT&T store later today and try to take pictures of it ourselves but we’ll see how well that goes with AT&T employees and mall security.

OS Updates »

It’s a double deal from Hutchinson today as they have officially released OS 5.0.0.822 for the BlackBerry Bold 9000 and the BlackBerry Curve 8900. So if you’re on an earlier version of OS 5.0, you may want to check this out as it may be more stable for you.

Browsing via BlackBerry? Click here to view video
This is the first BlackBerry Bold 9780 video we have ever seen. Seeing BlackBerry 6 live on a non-touch screen device has comforted many of us who have been just looking into touch screen for way too long, making our current devices feel useless. So how’s BlackBerry 6 on a 480 x 360 resolution? I’m like it so far. The menu, webkit browser, and overall speed of the OS is just remarkable. Enjoy this clip!

So BlackBerry Torch it is? BBRocks posted about blackpad.com being purchased by RIM, and I did have in mind a few days ago to check out BlackBerryTorch.com to see if RIM owned it. Seeing the post reminded me to do it so I went ahead and checked that out. Just as you guessed, RIM does own both domain names. Not so excited for this “BlackPad” but I hope RIM doesn’t plan on calling that their tablet and get a bit more creative. As for the Torch, can we safely assume this is 9800? I would like to say yes, and hopefully we get to see some of that in action on Tuesday.

We just got the word from Parkvu that Music WithMe just got a new big update. From what I see so far, the biggest seems to be the support for iTunes playlist folders. Here’s the full update list below or just hit the jump for the full press release from Parkvu.
- Playlist status display – Number of playable tracks, not supported tracks (video or DRM protected), tracks in the cloud, tracks needed from iTunes, tracks that cannot be found
- Support for music libraries that are stored in network attached storage locations
- Support for playlists with duplicate names – user added “audiobooks” or “recently added” playlist
- Playlist selection preserved across devices and if app is reinstalled
- Support for iTunes playlist folders

We were following up on Twitter to see what the big leak was going to be over at BBLeaks and it turns out it’s this right here. These are screenshots from a BlackBerry Bold 9650 running BlackBerry 6 (OS6). Relieved? We knew it was going to be compatible with the given 512MB of memory, but now we have to wait for other devices, especially the Bold 9700.

Accessories, Reviews »

This is the best. When I received this in the mail yesterday for review, I was just so amazed by it. Yes, it’s a simple as a USB wire, but its useful purpose and small design into a keychain, how could you not love it? The Scosche flipSYNC has both mini and micro USB adapters (as seen in the image after the jump), with a USB end on the other side to plug into any desktop computer or laptop. It hangs right on your keychain and has definitely become my new best friend. So how much are one of these bad boys? For 20 bucks, you can grab flipSYNC for BlackBerry or Apple products.
