We just got the word from Magmic Games that they are released an official Erno Rubik approved Rubik’s Cube application (game) for BlackBerry.  Excitement? I think so.  At first we figured this was going to be a third party game with no authenticity, but the fact that it is “Erno approved” it becomes a bit exciting.  Also, Erno Rubik himself helped in the development of this application.  We don’t have any screenshots yet, but will be having some in the next few days hopefully.  This game will work well on Storm 2 and the soon to be released BlackBerry 9800 Slider as well if you ask me.  We don’t have a launch date, but a “coming soon” to throw up in the air for now.

Just last week we got the word that RIM announced they were putting out the beta for the latest BlackBerry Desktop Manager 6 via Beta Zone to selected members.  Unfortunately, a lot of people were not included.  So what now? For those who couldn’t get private invites from RIM, here’s direct links you can download for yourself and try out.  There’s a few download sources, so if one goes down, be patient and try the next.

This is pretty cool.  If I was a huge fan of skins and accessories I’d definitely be all over this.  Over the weekend, I was browsing the the iPad App Store and came across something called PhotoPad, realizing the logo in the icon resembled ZAGG.  So to make a long story short, I went ahead and downloading it, only to find that this app let’s you design your ZAGGskins for all mobiles it is available for including BlackBerry.  Don’t take “customize” to the next level.  This isn’t like Case-mate’s Barely There covers where you can design that freely.  In PhotoPad, you can choose any picture you have saved on your iPad, upload it onto the skin, then zoom in and out to adjust it the way you want it.  Just a quick thought I wanted to share with you folks.  If you have an iPad along with a BlackBerry, check out PhotoPad or hit the link below to shop for ZAGGskins.

Before we get into what the country has to say about BlackBerry, let’s quickly recap on what happened last year.  Basically the carrier Etisalat in the United Arab Emirates has put out a “patch update” to all BlackBerry users, assuring everyone it was just an update for the device.  BlackBerry users complained about how sluggish their devices had become after, which called for some deep research to find out what this patch was all about.  After digging deep into the file, it was found that this “patch update” was a monitoring service that grabbed all messages and SMS, forwarding them to a third party security company.  Shady?  Now the country’s regulators are concerned with the BlackBerry.  Hit the jump for the full story.

BlackBerry users everywhere are getting stomped on by Android device and iPhone users.  Where’s the front face camera? When is a 4G Berry releasing? How about a revamped better OS to compete with what’s out today?  By looking at RIM’s road map for the next few months into 2011, things are looking good so far.  BlackBerry 6 (OS 6.0) which we hope is not delayed any further will be launching with the BlackBerry 9800 Slider and then for other devices as well.

We’re not hackers here nor are we looking to hybrid our BlackBerry smartphones to this extent by dropping the Java folder into other OS files then installing them.  These came from Driphter, and based on comments people left there, it has been tried already on the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 and Bold 9650, with not so successful results.  So if you’re looking to try this out, do so at your own risk as this is NOT in any way a full OS you can install as a .exe.  This is just the Java folder for the BlackBerry Clamshell 9670.  Some will get curious and fondle with the files as it is from BlackBerry 6, but again, we can’t encourage any of that here as it really isn’t such a user friendly procedure.

This isn’t a huge discovery, but it is nice to see more spare parts emerge for devices that have not reached any market worldwide yet.  I’m not sure if this one is OEM, but do know for sure that the site does sell OEM and after market parts.  As always, I’ve been checking out True Supplier for any new parts listed for the “to be released soon” devices, and now I stumbled upon more BlackBerry 9800 Slider parts.  So these are housing and bezels for the 9800 which looks like comes in the OEM black AT&T branded, as well as some other colors including red and the white that we’ve already been rumored was coming any way.  I am just hoping to see the rumored launch date to be true, but the date is too soon, and we have not heard anything yet.

Wow.  So this is the new BlackBerry Bold we’ve been hearing about.  The best thing about this is that it is indeed a QWERTY non-touch screen with OS 6.0.  This is the first device we see in that screen resolution not touch screen but with the new OS.  So what do we know about this so far? It has 512MB under the hood for sure.  Other than that we don’t know anything at all yet.  So is this the rumored 9700a we had for awhile?

As you all know by know the 9670 does have OS 6.0 on it as well.  But seeing the Bold 9780 have it is very “heartwarming” for many as none of us ever saw the new OS on a smaller screen 480 x 360 resolution.  There’s a lot of high excitement for this device coming out now, but at the same time it discourages the thought of having OS 6.0 on a Bold 9700.
