Hands On: Notifications Screen on BlackBerry 6 via Torch 9800

The all new Notifications page on BlackBerry 6 is definitely one of the best features I like about the OS and particularly on the Torch 9800 itself with the large screen display.  The Notifications page allows you to see everything going on all on one page.  Firstly, let me explain how easy it is to access at any time.  While on your home screen, simply click where your new alerted notification indicators are, and then the Notifications page rolls down smoothly (lagged a few times but it seems to be tip top now).  So what’s Notifications include? As you can see it includes calendar, messages, BBM, all your social feeds, and call log.  Having the large display allows you to see it all one one page while scrolling a bit up and down between different sections.  Each item can be clicked to view the full message or event.

Alternatively, you can switch the device sideways and it still works the same.  Of course at this point you’ll have more scrolling to do since the screen becomes shorter (duh).  I find it just a lot easier to hold it in portrait mode for this just for the fact that more is shown.  This luxury isn’t really going to be there for Bold 9650 and 9700 users who will get BlackBerry 6 as their screens are for more shorter than the Torch obviously.  This goes back to the point we made in our first Day 1 experience post where we mentioned that BlackBerry 6 is a great OS so far but it’s particularly great on the Torch for the sake of its large screen.

same resolution as the 9700 so viewing has no difference

Torch is the same resolution? … Check again..

    Actually, bb9k is correct.

Both the 9700 and the 9800 share the same resolution (480×360). The differences though is that the 9800 has a physically larger screen in terms of measurement and that the 9800 is portrait instead of landscape.
