It’s surprising to see how well spoken Jermaine Dupree is about the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  My guess would of been that he got hired by RIM to do this, but this doesn’t seem to be the case at all, and he just tells it how it is.  The Torch only gets its spotlight in the beginning but feel free to watch the rest.

Not everyone was selected for this, but it’s a good heads up knowing that Facebook v1.8 is now surfaced on BlackBerry Beta Zone.  With all the rumors around of what the app will hold, many are excited to see it.  So if you’ve been chosen to try it out, check your email or log into BlackBerry Beta Zone to see if you are eligible.  Otherwise hold on tight because it will get out of beta one day or another.

Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

These images surfaced from Dripher showing what looks like to us as the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  Cosmetically it’s all the same except the OS.  It resembles the Storm OS (5.0) with the blocked up icons.  So is it safe to say the Tardis was indeed a prototype of the Torch 9800 or just an early test unit  My guess is that this was nothing but some hardware testing from the past so the OS was not relevant.

MetroPCS has just put out the latest Curve 8530 OS ranked at 5.0.0.847.  I don’t recall any other major OS updates from the carrier on this device, but they did recently launch it, even though other carriers such as Verizon will be dropping it this month for the “bigger and better” Curve 9330.  So if you’re on MetroPCS you can hit the link below to download it officially on your device.  Enjoy.

For a device that’s just around the corner from releasing, RIM has does an excellent job keeping it secret.  After all, we did not even have confirmation on the 9800 being called the “Torch” 100% until the official announcement day.  Now according to IntoMobile, a leaked Verizon roadmap shows a BlackBerry Storm 3 9570 and Curve 9330 launching in October.  The Curve 9330 we aren’t so excited for as it’s barely “revamped” from the 8500 but the Storm 3 9570 is quite an excitement.  The Storm 3 will indeed have SurePress along with BlackBerry 6 OS preinstalled.  Leaked details we saw earlier on the Storm 3 indicate that it is also a hotspot meaning it can broadcast its internet service via WiFi to other devices.  With that said, we really hope further images surface on the device and we get to see what it’s all about.

The time has finally come.  A few months ago we gave you the first screenshots of the BlackBerry Traffic application that was in the Beta Zone.  Now it looks like the app is out of private beta and is now in open beta within BlackBerry App World open to everybody!

For those unaware BlackBerry Traffic is a great application that let’s you plan where you need to be on the right time.  It will give your estimated time of arrival, find out if roads are closed, or even plan an alternate turn or route all in advanced.  You can send the data to your friends if they are expecting you wanting to know how long you’ll be.  There’s endless scenerios where this app can come in handy.

Here’s some slides from the AT&T Developer Webcast showing what’s coming up new in the BlackBerry Widget SDK 1.1 in addition to Eclipse and Visual Studio.  What RIM wants is to have developers more involved in BlackBerry 6 and its new capabilities along with the new SDK 1.1.  Applications is RIM’s obvious weakness, so this is the biggest push right now.  In the next few months we’ll be seeing more BlackBerry widgets come to surface as BlackBerry 6 has only started and been introduced to us as a platform still.  The road ahead is still long.  Hit the jump for more slides from the webcast.
