Not much to say here. We’ve see the Torch 9800 live in action rockin’ BlackBerry 6. Now here’s the BlackBerry Bold 9650 which is not touch screen and running the BlackBerry 6 operating system. Once again, it’s been leaked by BBLeaks and we should be seeing the OS itself leak sometime soon. This one’s an early beta standing at 6.0.0.80, where it’s been guessed that the current tested OS is well in the 100′s.

We’ve seen a lot of action this year with data plan prices getting dropped and shifted. Something I noticed is that prepaid plans are starting to get popular out here in the “west” as Asian and Europe have been on such plans for a while. Also, it seems as though BlackBerry plans are starting to get cheaper. This is a new approach we see where Rogers has put together a bundled minutes with data pay as you go package for its customers. We got the word from IntoMobile that Rogers has adjusted its BlackBerry plans. The idea resembles AT&T’s similar service where you pick a plan and pay as you go but only this caters specifically to BlackBerry with all services combined.
With Rogers, the plans start s low as $40. Just to cap out the general specifics, for $40 you get the BlackBerry Email plan, then another BlackBerry Email plan follows at $55 which offers free nights and weekends. Next you have the BlackBerry Social plan for $40 as well where it does not provide unlimited emailing, but unlimited social networking through Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and all other apps. With the $55 BlackBerry Social plan you get all that plus free nights and weekends. Click the image above to enlarge.

It looks like the BlackBerry Torch 9800 just got its first OS leak (since the device released). This one is 6.0.0.161 rather than the .141 that comes with the device out of box via AT&T. We could be seeing this version pop up as an official download or perhaps it was private beta testing. Either way it isn’t official as of now, so be aware of that. Download and install at your own risk folks. Let us know how about your experiences.

We made the mistake before of posting up the BlackBerry Curve 3G available from Telus earlier this month. The reason? Well, they did label it as the BlackBerry Curve 3G which was very misleading given that this 9300 is the Curve 3G, and Telus mentioned to us that they intended that Curve 3G branding then for the 8530. After frowning upon that, we of course just took down the post, but today brings some good news. Telus has officially put up the BlackBerry Curve 3G (9300) on their site available for purchase. It doesn’t look like there’s various flavors for this one as we can only find it in gray/silver. Pricing starts at $79.99 for a 3 year term, $229.99 for 2 year term, $279.99 for 1 year term, and $329.99 for no term or contract.

We saw the different housings available over at True Supplier, but they were all very much after market and not original OEM parts. So it looks like a white BlackBerry Torch 9800 is coming to Rogers, and yes I am angry because I wish AT&T would have one coming. I fell too hard for the white Bold 9700, and a white Torch would just be excellent. Back to reality, Rogers is supposedly going to have the white BlackBerry Torch 9800 “exclusively” which could be interpreted differently depending on how you look at it. Will it be exclusive for Canada or everywhere?

Miscellaneous Thoughts »

So last night I went ahead and downloaded 7Digital Music Store, as I felt it was a must to do with the larger screen the Torch 9800 provides. Later on when I was using the universal search to find a music video, I noticed that 7Digital Music Store was also integrated in the search results which was pretty cool. The YouTube music video I was searching for could easily be purchased via 7Digital Music Store, or I could of just browsed through music I already had in there. RIM considers the 7Digital Music Store a Super App, so I guess it should of been expected of it to be included in the BlackBerry 6 OS new universal search.

This was worthy of posting just for its name “iHazWeather.” Pretty clever if you ask me. It’s very simple application with no crazy bells or whistles to it at all. The best parts about this app is that it uses your GPS, and is very light on your system taking about 190kb in total. Just like BerryWeather and WeatherEye, the home screen icon displays the current weather with exact degrees in the title.
Features:
- Very simple interface and a small file size (190kb)
- Works with your GPS (if enabled) or by the default set location
- Search feature allows you to easily search the weather of another location
- You get to choose your refresh rate of 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour 2 hours, or 3 hours (you must restart the application in order for the change to take effect)
iHazWeather is 2 bucks to buy. Click the link below to get redirected to the PocketBerry Store for screenshots and a purchase link.
