I couldn’t get it to function as it says it can’t find a connection, but the application is there.  Just as Verizon had on their BlackBerry smartphones, AT&T has now added their own App Center which will most likely bring a lot of carrier sponsored applications as well as some apps the carrier has rolled out themselves.  We’ve seen the AT&T barcode scanner application as well as the AT&T customer app that allowed you to follow up with your billing and minutes tracking.  I know this right off the bat, AT&T customers won’t be too happy with this or even other add-ons that AT&T has put onto the OS for the Torch.  There’s too many links in the applications folder that are frustrating to have to spend time to hide upon starting up the device for the first time.  I don’t really see AT&T App Center pleasing many, so that may very well be hidden also.  In any of you other current Torch users got this application running, let us know and we’ll update the post.

We’ve seen this leaked already, but RIM has officially released it now, so you won’t have to snoop around anymore looking for it online.  Upon receiving our BlackBerry Torch 9800 yesterday, we were able to get the new Desktop Manager version along with it.  The UI looks a lot better and more like the Mac version so it wasn’t huge for me.  As for all you PC users, you’ll be really happy with this version.  Hit the link below to download.

Carrier News »

MTS, another carrier in Canada has announced in a flyer that the BlackBerry Bold 9650 is coming soon.  We’re happy to see that this device hasn’t been left in the dark as it has been for a few months with the Torch 9800 surfacing on AT&T, the Pearl 3G all over Europe and Canada, and the Curve 9300.  The BlackBerry Bold 9650 will be compatible with BlackBerry 6, so even though the device has been out for awhile, it will remain in the game for some more.  Pricing hasn’t been released yet but the flyer indicates it is coming soon so we wait.

AG Findings, engineers in advanced carrying solutions, have announced that they are releasing four new BlackBerry cases for the Torch 9800.  Here are all four with brief descriptions:

The Glide Rail Technology (GRT) Shell is constructed with patented technology so that the shell attaches to itself rather than the device. The rails are composed of Glide-Tech Resin to ensure smooth operation and prevent scratching when inserting and removing the shell. The GRT Shell also allows complete access to all ports and controls, and includes two interchangeable fronts: Smoked Chrome and Metallic Blue. $34.99

The Premium Leather Pouch is elegantly crafted with luxurious leather and features sleeper magnets that automatically put your device in sleep mode to conveniently conserve the battery. The sleeper magnets in the pouch even function when the device is protected by the Glide Rail Technology Shell. The Premium Leather Pouch will also house many other Blackberry devices. $39.99

The Endo GRT features an internal skeleton to provide support and protection for the Blackberry® Torch™, and also includes the patented Glide Rail technology for ultimate functionality and ease of use. The Endo GRT is available in a bold purple color. $29.99

The Endo GRT with Holster offers the exact same design elements as the Endo GRT, including the internal skeleton build and premium Glide Rail technology, but also features a holster, for easy carrying, which includes a sleeper magnet to ensure battery conservation. The Endo GRT with Holster is available in black.  $34.99

All AT&T stores will be carrying these cases on August 12th which is the launch date for the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  The prices as you can see are varied from $29.99-34.99 which is the average price for case anyway.  Below is the rest of the gallery for the other three cases.

Devices, Reviews »

[10 Aug 2010 | No Comment | ]

Just yesterday we finally go our BlackBerry Torch 9800 review unit shipped, only a few days before launch date.  Typically all over the web you’re seeing reviews that just seems so repetitive.  With that said, we decided to bring back what we did earlier in the year when we reviewed the Verizon BlackBerry Curve 8530 and posted up bits and pieces of different experiences and of course summed it all up in the end.  That way many of you aren’t easily bored by reading the same old over and over.

The “Day 1″ experience will be based off my experience yesterday as that was the first day.  Feel of the device was very exciting but we did get to play with it last week at the Torch event in NYC.  Having in your hand with all your own apps and data is a whole other ballpark.  So how can I sum up the full first day? It’s been pretty good so far.  Hit the jump for more.

At one point, the BlackBerry Curve 8500 series stood alone with the pink and white Strength case line.  While browsing earlier to see if any Torch cases surfaced, I realized that the BlackBerry Bold 9700 now has Strength Commuter series cases coming in pink and white color too.  There is no date for the official launch of these cases but you can tune your email in to be informed when they are available.

It’s around once again! Pac aka Pacman is back on the Game Deal of the Day and I figured we’d buzz you all in on it again since it is one of the most popular BlackBerry games out there.  You all know the deal by now.  It’s only on sale until the end of the day so grab a copy while “supplies last” (or just before the day ends).

Rumors »

[9 Aug 2010 | One Comment | ]

Based on the 3G bands we have been seeing, it was once rumored before that T-Mobile was getting this BlackBerry Bold 9780, but this time around we are seeing something different.  The new 3G bands in these image leaks from the Driphter are different from before and also supposedly came stock with the AT&T background as well.  We’d like to see an AT&T boot screen as we did with the Torch 9800, so for now we’ll keep this as a rumor since there is no solid proof yet.  As an AT&T customer, would you wait for the Bold 9780 or just go Torch?

I have been a victim of this forwarded BlackBerry spam message three times so far today.  I guess it was just that time of year where spam had to surface since it had been too long since we had some.  This one’s a little messed up and suggests that all carriers are willing to donate 45 cents for each time the message is forwarded to a 14 year old kid who needs surgery.  Come on.  Be part of the bigger cause and stop forwarding BlackBerry Messenger spam.  In fact, do not become associated with broadcast messaging to begin with.  That’s something I really hate on BBM because its power has been abused so much.
