One of my favorite mobile games is now supported on BlackBerry 6 so I can actually use my Bold 9700 less now that the Torch has the support.  Druglord Wars 2 is a great game similar to Dope Wars, Drug Wars, or whatever some of you may be seeing variations of these days.  We’ve put it up on here plenty of times too, so I’m sure you all know it by now.  Here are some of the game features:

  • Unlimited gameplay mode to see how far you can take your drug empire
  • Global online leaderboard to compare your skills to the world with over 60,000 scores
  • Turn-based fight system allows you to choose your weapon and strategy
  • Hospital to recover health
  • 17 different drugs to buy and sell in 19 beautifully rendered cities
  • 20 different weapons, armor and storage containers to take down enemies, protect yourself, and hold more drugs
  • Over 150 custom designed images
  • Save games and preview progress before resuming

So now it’s supporting BlackBerry 6 OS, specifically the Torch 9800.  Even if you have other BlackBerry smartphones, you can still enjoy the game.

According to TmoNews, a tipster says that the BlackBerry Curve 9300 is expected to launch for T-Mobile on September 8th.  With the date right around the corner, we haven’t seen any screenshots from the T-Mobile streamline yet, which is usually unlikely this late.  No one’s really excited for this device as it is just a 3G refresh of the previous Curve 8520, but it might do well with the price being so low and the support of BlackBerry 6 OS on it.

I’ve been waiting for this to come in support since day 1 of having the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  Last time I played this was during the BlackBerry Storm 2 days but those are long gone and didn’t last long either.  In any case, Ehab let me know that Labyrinth has been updated to work with the BlackBerry Torch so you can enjoy the same game all these Android and iPhone groupies have and praise.  It’s $4.99 to purchase the full license and seems like there’s no lite version available.

We’ve put up our step by step guide on how to switch BlackBerry devices here on our site but here’s another great tutorial giving you the same with a video.  A lot of people keep switching devices and readding peoples BBM pins again which means something has been done wrong.  In this video by RIM you’ll see a quick and easy step by step guide on how to switch BlackBerry devices.

A little while ago, we let you know about Hootsuite coming to BlackBerry with a private beta sign up link.  It looks like the first stock images have been released out but it’s still hard to see the application’s attributes and how good it will actually be.  I just hope they’re also launching for BlackBerry 6 OS from the launch, but that seems like too much to ask especially if RIM is releasing apps that aren’t supporting it even.  Any way back to the first of the first sneak peak for Hootsuite for BlackBerry, this is the official note from the company:

Blackberry fans are adamantly vocal about their desire to Hoot from their beloved ‘berrys — and the wait is almost over! Soon fans everywhere will have a ‘berry-ready Owl with Facebook and Twitter in your hand — just don’t squish it!

To quench your desire, here are the first screenshots of HootSuite for Blackberry to share with your colleagues.

The pilot batch of HootSuite for Blackberry beta users are testing the first iteration with more invites going out soon (we haven’t forgotten about the thousands of you who signed up to test already).

So if you haven’t already, click here to sign up to be part of the beta or head over to Hootsuite.com to read more info.

It doesn’t say specifically Bell is expected to launch BlackBerry 6 OS  in 2011, but that’s all we get for now.  Guesses anyone?  So Bell has this internal notice that got leaked from MobileSyrup showing three devices which will be getting BlackBerry 6 OS in 2011.  Those devices are the Bold 9700, Pearl 3G (91xx), and Curve 3G (93xx).  Again there’s no estimated time during 2011, but we do know the Torch 9800 is coming soon to Bell and that is of course locked and loaded with BlackBerry 6 OS right out of the box.

Over at the PocketBerry Store, there’s a new bundled software page dedicated just for the BlackBerry Torch 9800.  Applications are what we love on our BlackBerry smartphones, and of course the Torch 9800 is still very much new, and not every application out on the market is available for it.  So here’s a collection of staff picked 20 essential applications for BlackBerry Torch 9800.  Some titles include SmrtGuard, Tether for BlackBerry, Leave it On, BerryWeather, PatternLock and more.

So CrossTalk is offering AIM, Yahoo Messenger, Windows Live Messsenger, Google Talk, and BBM.  This is a bit odd, but according to Gizmofusion, this new all in one messenger application is coming soon and indeed including  BlackBerry Messenger.  I don’t know how accurate this info is but if it is true, would you use it?  I very much like having BlackBerry Messenger on its own in an application, but having everything in one feed may not be such a bad idea.  We don’t want to dig in so deep with this as we’ve never heard of BlackBerry Messenger integrated into any third party application like this before so we’ll have to wait and see what Crosstalk for BlackBerry has to offer.

Over the past few days, we’ve been having quite some fun testing out the 2011 Ford Fiesta and seeing what its technology capabilities are.  So you’re asking why a BlackBerry oriented website is reviewing an automobile?  Well, we see a lot of cars these days communicating well with mobile phones, so Ford gave us this car to review.  At the moment Ford is very famous for its Microsoft SYNC system, which allows the vehicle’s head unit to communicate very well with media filled flash drives, MP3 players, and of course mobile phones.  Here of course we are completely focused on the BlackBerry.  Given that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 is the latest of the greatest from RIM, we decided to use it for this review as BlackBerry 6 is the next operating system and it would just seem “obsolete” to do it with OS 5.0.  Our adventures with the car were really fun, and it made us realize how much you can still enjoy your BlackBerry smartphone without physically holding it in your hand.  Continue reading for our full review.
