Here’s another free but old application I decided to put up as it has just been added in the PocketBerry Store as well along with bit.lify. All over BlackBerry App World, I see Screen Muncher being downloaded a lot which does the same thing as Capture It. What I don’t like about ScreenMuncher is the watermark logo placed on each screenshot you take. Capture It is free to use and also watermark free so you can do whatever you’d like with your own screenshots without having an advertisement pretty much on each one.

This application has been out for years now by the same makers of SocialScope, but I figured I’d share it with you guys since it’s now available in the PocketBerry Store for free. If you tend to tweet a lot on your BlackBerry and would like to shorten URLs for tweets, then bit.lify is a great application to have. It’s very easy and straight forward to use. While browsing a site, simply hit menu then select “bit.lify” to shorten the URL, which then allows you to paste it in a tweet. Pretty cool or what?

I had a funny email over the weekend asking me what the sample video was on the BlackBerry Torch 9800. Interesting enough to say, I didn’t know what the sample video was so I looked into it. Gladly I also located it on YouTube so no ripping was involved. This is an awesome video of will.i.am in concert chantin out “I love what I do” and takes his BlackBerry out asking everyone in the crowd to do so as well. I find this to be one of RIM’s best sample videos as it hits home well BlackBerry users and isn’t just another condensed music video.

Another quick reminder for all you BlackBerry Torch 9800 owners waiting to shop online for accessories, the OEM charging pod is now officially available to purchase through our store. It’s only $29.95 to purchase. The charging pod allows your BlackBerry to sit in portrait mode as the BlackBerry Storm pod did as well. This is great for office desks or even to keep on your bed shelves to replace your alarm clocks. Personally I keep mine on my desk and usually stream music or watch some of my saved movies on it. I’m sure you’ll all find good use for the charging pod.

Well we’ve already heard that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 will be available in Canada come September. We’ve also heard that Rogers Wireless would be getting the device first with a white version optional but exclusive to the carrier. The launch events will take place on three different dates in three different cities. As seen above here’s the schedule:
- Tuesday, September 21st – Toronto
- Wednesday, September 22nd – Vancouver
- Thursday, September 23rd – Montreal
Compared to the AT&T BlackBerry Torch 9800 launch event, this one seems a bit more interesting as there will be games involved with Torch prizes to give away. No mention of Rogers Wireless here, but we assume that’s what the Torch 9800′s will be branded with.

The OtterBox Commuter for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 has been available since the device launch date throughout all AT&T retail store locations. While browsing through cases, I spotted that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 Commuter case is now available at the PocketBerry Store. The cases usually run you about $35 but only $32.95 in our store. It comes in two different flavors, one black on black, and the other black on pink.

Some of you may not have known this before, but BlackBerry App World in Australia only featured free applications. In fact, App World didn’t reach out to Australia BlackBerry owners until late 2009, so they were a bit behind for awhile. We got the word from Lifehacker that Australia not only got BlackBerry App World 2.0, but also got premium apps available for purchase as well.

This is quite funny how this all happened. A few months ago we put up the coupon code “PBERRY” saving you 25% off all Bplay games and themes. Ronen from BerryReview posted up that our coupon code is still active and is even listed at RetailMeNot to use at check out. So since it’s still active, we figured we’d share it all with you to save 25% off your purchase. Hopefully it’ll still stay live (if it is intended to) but in the event that it is not, let us know!
So head over to Bplay and use coupon code “PBERRY” at the checkout screen to get 25% off instantly!

Application Updates, Free Applications »

There’s quite a few software updates today, and most are looking good so far as they now support BlackBerry 6 OS. Ronen from BerryReview once again spotted this one. CrunchSMS is one of the top 10 applications in the BlackBerry App World. As you can seen what it does just by the screenshot, it converts your SMS conversations into these bubble iPhone-ish format. CrunchSMS for BlackBerry 6 has not been updated in App World yet but you can certainly download it directly using the link below for free.
