As they’re may not be such a huge hype for the refreshed BlackBerry Curve 9300, it’s still in the Berry family and deserves some sort of recognition.  BBNews.pl spotted that Curve 9300 is available on Vodafone UK‘s website for free (with a plan of course).  The pitched features that Vodafone puts up here are:

  • Simple to stay in touch – the big keyboard and GPS make it easy to type messages and find your way
  • Faster connections – 3G makes web browsing and emailing as quick as on your PC
  • Designed with you in mind – find your music and websites fast with the media keys and new trackpad

Does sound a bit generic but it is all true.  Pointing out the 3G capability is key here as the older GSM Curve 8520 did not have 3G, only the CDMA 8530 which will now be the 9330.

It looks like the famous bells and whistles app BuzzMe for BlackBerry has been updated to work with the BlackBerry Torch 9800 and BlackBerry 6 OS of course.  So far only BuzzMe Premium and BuzzMe Pro got this update, but nothing on the free lite version yet.

It’s been awhile since we heard anything about LinkedIn so today they have updated their BlackBerry application to version 1.2.  Here’s the official release note:

We’ve just released an update focused on performance, battery life and resolving several issues our users were seeing with downloading connections. We made a number of changes to how we handle merging your address book with the BlackBerry Contacts application and other changes that should significantly reduce the battery life issues some users have reported.

Point your BlackBerry Browser to linkedin.com/blackberry to download it free today.

Generally we were all hoping to see the BlackBerry Bold 9700 get an OS leak after yesterday’s video showing it full functional but instead here’s a Bold 9780 OS leak.  This is the unofficial OS 6.0.0.131 for the BlackBerry Bold 9780.  This is most likely just the OS used for testing on the device and we should expect to see higher numbers.  If you currently have a Bold 9780 at hand, here’s an OS you can have fun with.

Last week, we let you know about the PocketBerry Phone Store getting the BlackBerry Torch 9800 in for half the price that AT&T retail stores are selling them for.  For some unknown internal issues, the Torch was removed from our affiliated store but it looks like it’s back to stay now.  The PB Phone Store is a bit revamped and easier to navigate now with all BlackBerry devices available as well.  We just wanted to shout out to everyone who emailed and tweeted us about the Torch $99 special here all at once to let you know that it is back.  The offer applies to both new contracts and upgrades.

According to a leaked memo and recently uploaded flyer over at BGR, Verizon is putting out prepaid BlackBerry plans starting this Sunday.  Here’s part (or all) of the memo that was leaked out:

Release Date 8/22/10
RT 802616 – Prepay 3G Pricing & Devices
Systems Impacted: EROES (internal & external)
Overview: Enables 3G & Blackberry devices with an email and web plan feature/bundle to be supported on Prepay. Prepaid customers will be billed for data similar to postpaid – i.e. mandatory data plan requirements for prepaid customers. (only pulls up monthly plans, brochure view)
RT 800992 RIM Blackberry – PREPAID
Systems Impacted: EROES (internal & external)
Overview: Enable the offering of a Blackberry device and a email and web plan feature/bundle for Prepay customers  (defaults to monthly plans , brochure view)

Also a flyer surfaced as well showing some of the plans and also with a date of August 22nd.  Data plans will be $30 for prepaid customers as well.  I would of expected to see these new prepaid plans roll out after Verizon decided to put out limited data plans – assuming that rumor it true to begin with.  Sunday is just around the corner so we’ll see what Verizon puts out.

We’ve seen the Bold 9700 in action today with BlackBerry 6 OS and now Ronen has put up a video for some Bold 9780 action also running the same OS.  I love the Torch 9800 and everything but I am definitely super excited to go back to the BlackBerry Bold again and run BlackBerry 6.  Videos like these are just way too teasing.

AGF first displayed these cases at the BlackBerry Torch 9800 launch event in NYC along with others.  I had never tried their cases out in the past and definitely had to give it a shot on this one.  We’re not going to go so deep into this case, but we’ll show you quite a few pictures and give you our insight on it.  So AGF was one of the first to announce cases available for the BlackBerry Torch 9800 along with Case-Mate and OtterBox.  We have never tried anything from AGF in the past, so I figured this would make for a good first run.

Firstly, this case is really nice.  I was really surprised to see how it all fit together.  Upon receiving it, I figured that the top cover would slap on along with the bottom and that’s it.  It turns out that the top cover that goes around the screen has railings on the sides which hook right into the bottom cover allowing you to slide your Torch back and forth.  The sliding action is really awesome but does take some time to get used to as it is a bit more “stiff” with the cover on.

We’ve been waiting to see what the BlackBerry Bold 9700 would be like running BlackBerry 6 OS, and now it has surfaced.  BGR has posted up a walkthrough video showing all its ins and outs.  Suggested in the video is that everything seems to be running smoother than the Torch, which is quite sad because the device just launched and was formatted to work well with the OS.  The webkit browser is impressively fast and just the whole home screen motion seems quite smooth.  Enjoy the video!
