RIM and Verizon officially announce the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330
by Mac Jadalhack
We were pretty much counting the days on this one to see when Verizon would be launching the BlackBerry Curve 3G, and it looks like it will be readily available sooner than we thought. So the big hype about the BlackBerry Curve 3G is its BlackBerry 6 “readyness.” We saw leaks for it out in the wild making us question if the device will launch out of the box with BlackBerry 6 OS or not, but it seems like OS 5.0 will be preloaded as the description does say it’s only “BlackBerry 6″ ready. The Curve 3G will come in charcoal and fuchsia red (just like the T-Mobile 8520). Here are some features:
- A full QWERTY keyboard for fast, comfortable typing, as well as an optical trackpad for effortless navigation
- Mobile access to RIM’s renowned e-mail services, as well as instant messaging applications such as the popular BlackBerry Messenger service
- 512MB of memory
- Access to BlackBerry App World, featuring a broad and growing catalog of third-party mobile applications developed specifically for BlackBerry smartphones
- 2.0 MP camera with zoom and video recording
- Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS
- Advanced media player for music and videos, dedicated media keys, and a microSD/SDHC card slot for expandable memory up to 32GB
- Long lasting battery
- Ships with BlackBerry 5, and is BlackBerry 6 ready
The 512MB of memory seems key here as the GSM 9300 model remains to only have 256MB. Had the Verizon one rocked only 256MB, it would of been the same exact specs as the previous Curve 8530. So the BlackBerry Curve 3G for Verizon will be available for businesses on September 16th and then out for everyone else within the “coming weeks” for only $29.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. At a low price like that, it makes it reasonable to get where the T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 runs you $79.99.
