Momentem for BlackBerry launches updated version with “Super App” capabilities
by Ehab Moniem
Back at WES 2010, we checked out Widality’s Momentem application which targets businesses that need to tag calls, activities, and expenses. Even before that, they came out with the free Call Time Tracker app. We were happy to see Widality here at DEVCON introducing some new features to its highly successful Momentem Application, adding Super App capabilities. For those of you who don’t know, Momentem helps its customers keep track of billable time spent on the phone accomplishing tasks for a specific project and/or client. Before this app, most businesses would have a hard time reporting this data and gauging the effect it may have on performance. How can you assess the effectiveness of a technique without the data showing the amount of work done to secure a client or complete a task?
As a Super App, it is always running in the background and proactively activates itself when you receive an important call or email. It will then allow the user to tag the call to an associated project or contact once the end button is pushed. When it is time to check the billable history for a project for a contact, an organization will have the tools to determine the billable time, recovery costs, time sheet activities, and recording follow-up actions.
More after the jump along with the full press release and some screenshots of Momentem.
Now there are many new features that will add to the plethora of existing ones we see today. Among them are:
- The ability to tag items from the BlackBerry smartphone menu system, in addition to the existing pop- up notifications.
- Always-on background tagging that is unobtrusive to the user, enabling the user to process events at a later time.
- Greater integration with the BlackBerry smartphone user’s phone book, calendar, and tasks allowing users to do more with their tags and information.
- The ability to share tags with other people, including the ability to post call tags on Twitter.
- A Spanish version to address the growing demand from customers in Latin America.
- A version that supports BlackBerry® allowing users to easily interact with momentem via the touchscreen, trackpad and keyboard.
With these new key enhancements, cataloging phone has reached a new level. Now it can be shared with a whole organization, facilitating communication and increasing productivity. With those that have an even more open view on transparency, they have the ability to post their call log on twitter for their followers to see.
It doesn’t matter what level of transparency is employed, what does matter is the effect this application has on managing calls and increasing the mobile efficiency of a business. Check out the full press release below!
28 September 2010: Leading business app embraces all the BlackBerry Application Platform has to offer
momentem™ for BlackBerry® smartphones launches updated version with “Super App” capabilities
A new version of momentem™, a popular business app for BlackBerry® smartphones, will showcase at BlackBerry DEVCON 2010 (http://www.blackberrydevcon.com) and launch exclusively on BlackBerry App World™ (www.blackberry.com/appworld) on September 27th.
Applications with Super App capabilities leverage the unique ability of the BlackBerry Application Platform to deliver a seamless, integrated, contextualized and efficient end-user experience. An innovative combination of an app combined with a SaaS hosted service, momentem delivers Super App capabilities to users by permanently running in the background on BlackBerry® smartphones and proactively popping up after important calls and emails, enabling the user to tag the event to any contact and project for the purpose of tracking billable time, recovering costs, producing timesheets of activity, and recording follow-up actions. Since its launch, momentem has helped users capture 1.2 million hours of billable time that they would have otherwise not been able to track. The new version launching at BlackBerry DEVCON takes this app to a new level of utility.
Some of the new momentem features being launched include:
The new version has been receiving very positive reviews from users. Kenny Phipps, Project Manager in IT Professional Services said, “Momentem is my number one BlackBerry app for various reasons; It helps prove things happened, it helps me get paid, it helps for those assignments that are time & materials based by tracking both the length of calls and the date/times, and it provides me with credible reporting. I love the tighter integration with the BlackBerry operating system.”
Ralph Perez, Attorney at law, stated, “The new version of momentem allows me to bill efficiently without losing money due to unlogged calls. The new features let me to go back through my calls at the end of the day and log them via momentem or the BlackBerry call log ensuring my billing is accurate and profitable. As well, I find the ability to add a new momentem contact to my BlackBerry Contacts a very helpful new feature.”
Commenting on all of the new enhancements, Terry Hughes, President and Head of Market Development at Widality said, “Momentem is a powerhouse for anyone who needs to log and manage their calls and is now so ingrained into the daily lives of its users that they consider it a natural extension of their BlackBerry smartphone. Users tell us it is an app they simply cannot live without. The BlackBerry platform makes it very easy for us to innovate, so we embraced the Super Apps programming framework, along with BlackBerry 6, and the latent demand in Latin America to package a new version of momentem to add more value to our service for our existing and new users.”
