The BlackBerry Torch 9800 is still new and upcoming since AT&T launched it last month.  Of course celebrities got their hands on it at BlackBerry launch events.  As you all know, the BlackBerry Bold 9700 became the most popular device to use among celebrities for a while.  Before that, it was the Curve 8900 and Bold 9000.  So now that the Torch is in town, do you think celebrities are all starting to migrate to it or will they stick to their savvy Bold 9700′s which are strictly QWERTY with no touch screen.

Another comical commercial surfaces from RIM, this time for Vodafone India advertising the prepaid BlackBerry services.  The main punch line here is “BlackBerry Prepaid- Not just for the office guys.”  I think that’s a really important statement there to get potential customers mind off the assumption of BlackBerry being all business.

Here’s a funny video, fan created of course titled “Ping Me Baby.”  It takes you through a BlackBerry Messenger conversation.  It’s a bit too long if you ask me, but it’s funny.

It’s been a while but Tether for BlackBerry has updated as we have been informed via MobiHand.  There is no change log unfortunately as it’s probably small bug fixes.  If we hear otherwise, we’ll be sure to post up a change log.  If you don’t have a copy of Tether for BlackBerry yet, you should definitely  grab one if you’d like to be able to connect to the web on your laptop any where using your BlackBerry’s internet service without facing additional carrier fees.

Case-Mate has teamed up with Pong in a partnership to launch radiation reducing cell phone cases.  Besides the cases looking good and fashionable, they’ll be reducing radiation as well. Here are some features:

  • Innovative: Bounce cases feature a sleek design coupled with ground-breaking radiation-reducing technology.
  • Trustworthy: The devices are proven in FCC certified laboratories.
  • Effective: A paper-thin internal circuit board deflects away from the user at least 60% of constant radiation and re-directs 85% or more of “hot spot” radiation.
  • Durable: The slim, flexible case is impact resistant, so the phone is protected from potential scratches and scrapes.

These new Bounce cases will be available during early Q4 with a price tag of $49.99 with a free screen protection cover.  Hit the jump for the full press release.

So here’s a huge jump in BlackBerry OS when it comes to the BlackBerry Bold 9700.  This one is 5.0.0.938 – how far are we from a 6.0 release?  In any case this one is leaked so download and install at your own risk.  According to the rumors, this could be the last version of OS 5.0 for the BlackBerry Bold 9700.  Let’s go BB6!  Below are several download mirrors to grab a copy from.

We saw the discussions video of what to expect out of DEVCON this year, but it was too general, and didn’t really give us much.  So on the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog, RIM has decided to give us a little sneak peak of what to expect at this year’s DEVCON.  This list goes on through 5 things we should expect to see including social apps platforms, new commerce services for businesses, new enterprise integration services, and web technologies to build applications (widgets).  Hit the jump for more specific info on the sneak peak.

We’re not all about Bluetooth headsets here, but obviously they go well with the BlackBerry.  Sound ID is among my favored ones, and we just got word that they released three new models: the 520, 512, and 500.  All three of these will be available this Holiday season, but may roll out a bit earlier into end of October.

Besides the Sound ID being really thin and sleek when sitting against your ear, the call quality, noise cancellation feature, and long lasting battery just make it a win over others on the market.  Currently I use the Sound ID 400 and RIM’s new HS-700 which I am fond of both.  Back to the thin, sleek design – I like it a lot given that there’s quite a few headsets out on the market that bulge out of your ear big time.  The Sound ID doesn’t give you that image at all.

Hit the jump for the full press release from Sound ID including all the specs and features of the new headsets.

As BerryBuzz already updated not too long ago, another one came out as a “critical fix.”  In this version (3.1.2), the following has been changed:

- Last version stopped working with a ‘beta version expired’ message
- Fixed check for update functionality

So it’s not such a HUGE update, but critical in the sense where updates weren’t working and the ‘beta version expired’ message would come up for people who already purchased.  Not cool.  Now it’s all solved.  Head over to My Account to update or hit the link below to check out BerryBuzz.
