If anyone is curious enough, let us know if it works for you. In Home Depot, you can purchase little devices that give off chirps that allegedly scare away mosquitoes and keep them out of site. So why can’t those sounds be transmitted via BlackBerry? I don’t know – I’m not a nature guy. Here are some features:
- 3 sound frequencies to be chosen – male mosquito, dragonfly, and both male mosquito & dragonfly.
- Volume control for sound frequencies.
- Easy to use one page only selection.
So again those curious enough to grab a copy, let us know how it goes for you. Its 3 bucks to buy and is compatible with every BlackBerry from the Pearl 8100 all the way to the Torch 9800.

Office Hot Shot has become a popular mobile game on various platforms including BlackBerry, iPhone, and Android. The idea is throwing crumpled up paper balls into an office waste basket with a fan (which keeps changing position and power). With the fan going, you have to allign the paper balls accordingly so it makes it in with the wind conditions. On the side, you can use this as your lock screen also, which is pretty cool. Features include:
- Use as a locking app, or use just for the game, or both!
- Master switch to enable/disable locking functionality.
- Optional password to unlock your BlackBerry.
- Optional password reminder, in case you forget your unlock password.
- Available for both touchscreen and trackball/trackpad devices.
- Designed for minimal impact on battery life.
- Works in landscape or portrait mode.

A day after Verizon, it looks like Sprint has officially announced the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330. Where’s the BlackBerry Style 9670? - Dedicated media keys to play, pause and skip songs
- Wi-Fi®: 802-11 B/G and GPS
- Visual Voicemail
- 512 MB Flash memory plus a MicroSD/SDHC slot for up to 32 GB of media storage, 2GB card included

There are a lot of great shortcut applications out there such as QuickLaunch that allow you create shortcuts for apps, various commands, contacts, etc – but we haven’t seen it where customized touchscreen movement launched one of those. GesturePad is a touchscreen BlackBerry exclusive app (at only 99 cents) that lets you designate certain gestures for specific apps, contacts, composing email, contact, and more. And by gestures, it lets you draw out the exact gesture you want that will execute whatever you set it up to. Here are the features:
- Unlimited number of custom gestures can be added
- Gesture to compose an email to a specific address
- Gesture to compose an SMS to a specific number
- Gesture to call a specific phone number
- Gesture to show all of a person’s contact information
- Gesture to open a specific website
- Gesture to launch an application
- Option to have a confirmation prompt after gesture
- Option to have the application close once the gesture is recognized and the action is performed
- Ability to modify or delete gestures after you have created them
- The simplest way to get things done!
So it’s pretty straight forward, and I will definitely give the app a shot on the BlackBerry Torch as I already use QuickLaunch, but this might be more efficient with the touchscreen.

Back in the early summer, we let you know about an MMA application coming to BlackBerry and other platforms. We’ve been in the dark about it for quite some time now but it looks like some light has been shed. George St-Pierre aka GSP is getting his first mobile application – and yes BlackBerry is supported. The application will allow fans to get instant up to date news, personal updates, exclusive videos and training instructions from GSP himself. A cool feature I saw is Kombat Mobile’s Strike Challenge where you can compare the velocity of a user’s punch with GSP.
“I am really excited to be working with Kombat Mobile,” said St-Pierre. “This is something new and fun for me and my team to be involved in the development process, and this will help me to stay in touch with my fans.” So the date is scheduled to be sometime this fall. Hit the jump for the full press release from Kombat Mobile.

Something we forgot to mention in our post yesterday was that the BlackBerry Torch 9800 is also coming in olive color, which sound a bit weird to many but I feel it could be good. We jumped the gun too fast and based our post on the images leaked of the red and white model, but Engadget does mention the olive one is confirmed. Let’s hope it doesn’t fail and gets a cooler color name.

In this video, we see Mike Kirkup with Chris Smith, Tyler Lessard, and Tim Neil discussing BlackBerry DEVCON and what to expect from the event. It’s funny seeing that one of questions addressed here is whether or not the Black Eyed Peas will be there or not. By the answer given, we assume the band will be there as only will.i.am came to WES 2010.

This is just a funny commercial I came across via BBLeaks showing communication between a fighting couple with a BlackBerry Torch 9800 (which has not launched yet) and a Samsung Android device. We already know that Vodafone is expected to get the Torch soon along with the Bold 9780 as we saw some leakage on that. So far these Torch commercials make the device look super savvy.

OS Updates »

Well it looks like some of you will get BlackBerry 6 OS as soon as you grab a BlackBerry Curve 3G 9330 from Verizon – unofficially of course. The download mirror went down pretty quick last time the Curve 3G got a 6.0 leak so if you’re looking to install this on your future device, make sure you download it now and save it for later. Some of you may be internally testing this or using it as a beta as well. In any case, download and install at your own risk since it is not official.
