Back at WES 2010, we had a little sneak peak on the BlackBerry Curve Commuter cases and the colors they came in. Just a quick reminder that those colors are now available to purchase, for the Curve 9300 and 8520 and only in Commuter edition. Six different colors to choose from, and only $34.95 to purchase.

We were pretty much counting the days on this one to see when Verizon would be launching the BlackBerry Curve 3G, and it looks like it will be readily available sooner than we thought. So the big hype about the BlackBerry Curve 3G is its BlackBerry 6 “readyness.” We saw leaks for it out in the wild making us question if the device will launch out of the box with BlackBerry 6 OS or not, but it seems like OS 5.0 will be preloaded as the description does say it’s only “BlackBerry 6″ ready. The Curve 3G will come in charcoal and fuchsia red (just like the T-Mobile 8520). Here are some features:
- A full QWERTY keyboard for fast, comfortable typing, as well as an optical trackpad for effortless navigation
- Mobile access to RIM’s renowned e-mail services, as well as instant messaging applications such as the popular BlackBerry Messenger service
- 512MB of memory
- Access to BlackBerry App World, featuring a broad and growing catalog of third-party mobile applications developed specifically for BlackBerry smartphones
- 2.0 MP camera with zoom and video recording
- Built-in Wi-Fi and GPS
- Advanced media player for music and videos, dedicated media keys, and a microSD/SDHC card slot for expandable memory up to 32GB
- Long lasting battery
- Ships with BlackBerry 5, and is BlackBerry 6 ready
The 512MB of memory seems key here as the GSM 9300 model remains to only have 256MB. Had the Verizon one rocked only 256MB, it would of been the same exact specs as the previous Curve 8530. So the BlackBerry Curve 3G for Verizon will be available for businesses on September 16th and then out for everyone else within the “coming weeks” for only $29.99 after a $100 mail-in rebate. At a low price like that, it makes it reasonable to get where the T-Mobile BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 runs you $79.99.

It looks like the rumors are true, and the BlackBerry Torch 9800 will be coming in white! Here’s the first of the first look ever on the device in white. BlackBerry smartphones always look sexier in white. Also, the device will be hitting the streets in red. Both colors are exciting and they are both coming to AT&T according to their 2010 holiday catalog. Anyone else excited? I certainly am.
Something different we see here is the chrome. It looks like on both the red and white version, the chrome has been sacrificed and instead been replaced with the same color as the rest of the body which can be nice. I don’t care much for the chrome as it scratches way to easy any way.
At first we were rumored that Rogers would be getting it first, but it looks like AT&T is jumping the gun fast here and releasing the Torch in not only white, but a red/black variation as well. Which one would you get?

So the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 has just launched and you can pick it up at any T-Mobile store for only $79.99. How about free? The PocketBerry Phone Store carries the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 in both available colors for FREE with an upgrade or $49.99 with an upgrade which is still cheaper than the retail stores.

While browsing the Driphter forums, I came across someone’s testimonial saying that the Torch seems to wiggle a bit on the bottom of the screen when closed. Personally I have gone through this problem in the last 4 Torch units I had. My last one seemed to be fine, but over time after some usage, it just seems to go sour again and loose slowly. It does become aggravating only because there are all these other slider phones on the market with a solid non-wiggly design. Are any of you experiencing the Torch wiggle?

A new application called eBlaster Mobile has just made its launch for BlackBerry. It basically allows you to monitor a BlackBerry’s text messages, email activity, and voice call logs. This works great for parents wanting to see what their children are going on about on their BlackBerry smartphones, or for smaller scale businesses who want to snoop on their employees. You can get eBlaster Mobile for a whole year subscription of $49.95 per BlackBerry which isn’t too bad.
- Email Activity – Get transcripts of emails sent or received through one or more personal mail accounts setup on the BlackBerry Internet Service (including @aol, @gmail, @hotmail, @yahoo, and @carrier.blackberry.net) and company messages sent through a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. Even when a user deletes an email, eBlaster Mobile will keep a copy of that message for review.
- Text Message Activity – Receive transcripts of text message conversations – every word that was typed on both sides of the conversation. You can receive immediate notification of text messages, regardless of whether a message was deleted from the phone.
- Voice Call Log – See when and who they are calling and for how long. Find out if your children are talking on the phone during times when you have asked them not to, such as when they are supposed to be doing homework or after bedtime. Or, determine if your employees are using a company phone to make or receive too many personal phone calls.

Here’s another AT&T BlackBerry Torch 9800 commercial we were fond of once again. In this one we see how picture sharing comes handy, even in the business world. So far I’m liking all the commercials for the Torch. What do you think?

OS Updates »

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 gets another leak, this time it’s 6.0.0.225. We’re all curious to see when AT&T will be rolling out an official OS for it. Perhaps when all the Canadian carriers get their Torch fix, we’ll be seeing higher OS versions such as this one roll in right out of the box. Keep in mind this is a leaked version and not official so download and install at your own risk.

Madden NFL 2011 has made its way to BlackBerry at last. The game’s not bad and definitely doesn’t match how great it looks on the iPad or PS3 obviously, but it makes a great mobile game. It’s only $6.99 to purchase from Bplay. Madden 2011 gives you 32 teams to choose from with the full Exhibition Mode and lots of in game controls while playing offense and defense.
