I was waiting to see when we would see the DEVCON application launch as we always have seen them in past including one for WES.  So now it’s finally available for free at the BlackBerry App World.  With the DEVCON Mobile Guide, you’ll be able to check out all the breakout sessions, look up specific speakers and their sessions, and search for sponsors.  Also, the app will be used to fill out breakout session surveys which is pretty cool.

It’s dark here, but we can sort of make out the bottom of the device which has confused us all since yesterday’s leaked out image of what we thought was the BlackBerry Storm 3.  So a trackpad was seen on the device we saw yesterday just as the torch has but here we are seeing solid proof that it is indeed a 9570 model BlackBerry which is the next Storm to release.  Other things we notice here is that it has BlackBerry 6 OS installed here, a bit old if you ask me (.155).  The biggest key here is that we know that this image and the image we saw yesterday are of two different devices.  So what was the one we saw yesterday?

According to the Wall Street Journal, RIM’s BlackBerry tablet is expected to be “unveiled” or at least announced at DEVCON next week.  Just yesterday we let you know about RIM trademarking “SurfBook” which many of us assume is going to be the name of the tablet.  Also, WSJ Research reports that RIM is expected to release the tablet in Q4 this year so it’s not so surprising to see them announce it at their big developer’s annual event.

I have to admit, I’m really excited to see what RIM has to show for a tablet and what it will bring, especially now that we know it’s rockin’ an OS by QNX Software Systems and not an enlarged version of BlackBerry 6 as we assumed at WES.

It looks like Blaq has gone through an update as they have recently pushed their app out to the general public not too long ago.  I’m liking the application a lot so far, not so big on the Torch version though but works very well on my Bold 9700.  In any case, here’s the full change log:

  • Profile editing
  • Avatar updating
  • New “G” shortcut for Go to User Profile
  • “Connection” setting in Settings screen
  • “Animate Timeline” has been changed to “Swipe to Switch”
  • “Get more” in user timeline and list timeline
  • Fixed BIS support
  • Fixed TwitLonger support
  • Fixed manager.insert error
  • Fixed local timeout error
  • Many optimizations for increased speed

Browsing via BlackBerry? Sorry! No mobile link here.

The Techno Buffalo has just put up a small walkthrough video as well on the BlackBerry Bold 9780.  It’s a bit silly posting up this many Bold 9780 walkthroughs, but given that the previous one posted was in Vietnamese, there’s nothing wrong with giving you an English translation.

The title says it all I guess.  To show the current time, type LT the hit the space bar.  To show the current date type LD then hit space.  It’s old trick out of the hat I had forgotten all about and was reminded of it earlier this morning.  It works on them all, even SureType devices.

Thanks A1 for sending this in!
