LEDArt.me is a new free application available at the PocketBerry Store that lets you create LED artwork, then post it online or share with your friends.  There’s a few applications like this I’ve seen on my iPad that get really fun letting you doodle artwork and send out to friends or share on Twitter or Facebook.

Or just as the description suggests, if you’re ever bored in transit somewhere or just stuck with a lot of extra time, LEDArt.me could kill that time for you and keep you company.  It’s free to download so click the link below to get it OTA.

It’s been awhile since we’ve seen the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550 get an OS leak so I guess this one came at a good time.  Here’s OS 5.0.0.895 for the BlackBerry Storm 2 9550. It’s unofficial so download and install at your own risk.

The flyer says so.  And it looks like a pretty legit ad to my eyes.  The only things that trouble me here is BlackBerry spelled out “Blackberry” and Oxford being put as the name when we were confirmed in the past that it would be the Style.  Perhaps they have gone back to Oxford which was the former codename or they could just be using the codename for now internally within Sprint until launch.

In any case assuming this is real, the BlackBerry Oxford 9670 will come in two different colors – gray and purple.  The final price after $100 mail-in rebate will be $99, which is a great deal for a new launched BlackBerry.  Right out of the box, it will come with BlackBerry 6 OS, thankfully.  October 31st is the launch date according to this flyer so let’s sit tight and see what the Oxford brings on.

We’ve seen the BlackBerry Torch 9800 confirmed in red color coming to AT&T before the holidays, but never have we seen the Bold get any of that color action.  The Bold was always in white and black, and if it were to come in another color this soon, we would of seen something by now.  So this is what we got – a BlackBerry Bold 9780, Rogers branded, red color, but something’s way too fishy here.  Notice the back?  The Bold 97xx series is known to have a red leather back.  Here it’s some sort of carbon fiber looking material.

Our guess here is that the parts are all aftermarket and maybe it’s internally a BlackBerry Bold 9780.  But we certainly don’t see something like this coming stock right out the box.  It is a prototype as the ad says, but you guys make your own calls on this one.

So what could this be? The folks over at BGR got their hands on an invitation from Verizon for a BlackBerry 6 launch event from 10am-3pm on October 14th.  Is it a device? Very doubtful of that.  What I do think we’ll be seeing here is pretty much BlackBerry 6 OS surface to current devices such as the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and the recently released BlackBerry Curve 9330.

Also on another note, it does say “BlackBerry Bold” on the bottom right corner of the flyer, meaning the Curve 9330 could very much be left out.  So let’s see how “interactive” this can really get.  This may just be a demo day for both devices but the flyer does say it is a “launch.”  A small play on words and we could assume anything.  It’s not like Verizon’s great on spelling any way as the “your” should be “you’re” but who’s pointing fingers?

It looks like BlackBerry App World has officially updated to v2.0.1.12.  I just hate when there are no change logs and I know they’re almost not worth putting up if it’s something minor, but I still believe some change log notes would be nice.  In any case, open up BlackBerry App World and choose to update today.  If you are not prompted, run the search for “BlackBerry App World” and manually download it through there.

Words with Friends and Scrabble are awesome on the iPhone & iPad.  I specifically enjoy playing Words with Friends because of the ease of playing online against other people.  You can do the same from Scrabble, kind of sort of, but it’s not the same.  WordRival has just landed for BlackBerry.  The screenshot pretty much explains itself.  If you like playing Scrabble or Words with Friends, this is pretty much the same thing.  WordRival is the same idea as Scrabble and lets you play online with others just like Words with Friends.  Here are some features:

  • Play against friends anywhere in the world over the Internet
  • Find a random opponent to play against over the Internet with one click
  • Play in Pass’n'Play mode with just one BlackBerry phone
  • Get notified when the other played has moved so you can close the app
  • Vibration alerts when it’s your go
  • Play as many games simultaneously as you like
  • There is no single player mode

So if you like Scrabble and would like something just like it on your BlackBerry, check out WordRival.  As a special promotion, it’s 20% off for now at only $3.99 where it’ll bump back up to $4.99 once they decide to take the sale down.

Today’s awesome deal of the day goes out to one of my favorite applications, QuickLaunch.  This is one we forgot to mention in our 5 utilities for the Torch post, so this would definitely make it six!  Either way, you guys know all about QuickLaunch by now.  We’ve pushed it out to our readers for years now, and the application still stands strong remaining to be on the top 10 most downloaded BlackBerry apps.  Hit the link below to purchase it for only $2.49 today only.
