And the answer is yes. More than half of you BlackBerry users out there love themes. Some of you dislike them, while some like to try them here and there. To be quite honest, we were expecting to see more folks against using themes, but that’s what polls are good for. In any case, here’s the full results:
- Yes – 61.7%
- No – 21.28%
- Sometimes – 17.02
So this was a little surprising to see that a lot of people do like themes. I’m not bashing against them here but I will say there are quite a few themes out there that do slow your BlackBerry down. It is pretty much a skin that runs on top of the theme you already have. At the same time, I do see themes out there where speed doesn’t seem to be affected.

It looks like the United Arab Emirates and RIM have come to agreement and a BlackBerry ban will no longer take place. This was a huge issue that sizzled over the gulf throughout the summer where we saw more and more countries go for the ban.
There is no word as to what exactly was done here to make the two come to agreement and keep BlackBerry services, but a state news agency WAM said that “the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has confirmed that BlackBerry services are now compliant with the UAE’s telecommunications regulatory framework.” So we can sort of assume that RIM has given the UAE some sort of access to what they want to see.

Earlier this week we let you know about Bolt Browser getting a new update with quite a few new features. Now it looks like they have updated once again , this time from v2.30 to 2.31. There is no change log, and given that this was just silently done we assume it is nothing more than some bug fixes.

UPDATE: It looks like it wasn’t a huge deal and some on Verizon and AT&T have confirmed some sluggishness going on the east coast (U.S.). But as you can see in the poll above, not many have been affected.
Some users have reported to us some BBM lags occurring throughout today and I personally am seeing the same thing happen as well with my BlackBerry. So just a quick poll – are any of you having any BBM difficulties today, whether it be just a lag or messages not sending/receiving?

A couple weeks ago we let you know about Verizon putting the BlackBerry Storm 3 9570 down as they decided not to carry the device. There was still hope for the device to surface to other carriers, but according to this leaked internal note at RIM, it’s getting canceled across the board for everybody. The note reads:
“Thank you for your hard work and diligence in preparing your application to support the upcoming hardware refresh of the BlackBerry Storm2 smartphone (model number 9570, codename R027). Regrettably, RIM has decided not to pursue this device further and has ended the program.
However, rest assured that you will have the opportunity to leverage the work you’ve put in thus far in preparing for the new OS, as BlackBerry 6 will be making its way to more Verizon products in the near future, including the BlackBerry Bold 9650 and the BlackBerry Curve 9330″
And there you have it. Verizon will not get the device and RIM has decided to end everything with the device officially. Assuming the note is true, what will come of the Storm family? Will it just wear off like the Tour?

Next on the list for the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is Vodafone Spain. According to a screenshot from MiBlackBerry, the carrier is expected to get it soon as it was leaked out in a promo spec flyer showing all the ins and outs of the device. What’s interesting here is that the screenshot displays OS 5.0 when we were all under the impression that BlackBerry 6 would come with it fresh out of the box. It doesn’t appear so unless this was a “typo” in the image. In any case, we’ve got two confirmed carriers now who will provide the BlackBerry Bold 9780 – Virgin Mobile and now Vodafone Spain.
Also, something strange in the specs is that there is no mention of 512MB inside, and instead says 250MB of internal memory. Is that a typo?
