Last night RIM held a award ceremony for the BlackBerry Partners Fund Developer Challenge.  The winners for North America, Latin America, Europe/Middle East/Africa, and Asia Pacific were announced.  Here’s the list of the winners:

Many of you are quite familiar with the first two – Poynt and Vlingo.  Poynt is a popular location based service used to find out what’s around you using your GPS, including directions, and directories.  My favorite part about it was that it would sync a found address then give me the option to navigate where it then takes me to my TeleNav app.

Vlingo has been out since I had my BlackBerry Pearl 8100 I believe.  It was still in its early beta stages then, but it became a very reliable voice to text app for BlackBerry.  Vlingo allows you to type in anywhere that a text field exists which was pretty amazing to see as is.
