BlackBerry PlayBook small enough for thumb typing?

Here’s an image of what looks like another lucky somebody with a BlackBerry PlayBook in hand.  What I noticed is that the device (for me at least) seems to be small enough to type away using your thumbs and perhaps don’t need to use it as you would with an iPad where I find it to be a little awkward.  On the iPad you try using the keyboard as you would on a regular full size computer but it just doesn’t work right. I find myself using my pointer fingers to type which slows me down a lot.

The BlackBerry PlayBook with a 7 inch screen which is a perfect size for me will call for typing to be a lot easier.  As you can see how the gentleman is holding it, thumb typing seems to be very appropriate for it.  Maybe I won’t lose my maximum words per minute using the tablet after all.

Alex from RIM here. Without a doubt, we’re really excited about the PlayBook’s size and portability. The 7-inch display not only makes it extremely convenient to type on, but easy to carry as well. Have seen a few PBs in the office and used one myself so I can definitely confirm that PlayBook is the perfect size for BlackBerry-style thumb typing. I am the odd duck though, as I’m an index finger and thumb typer. True story.

    Thanks for the post!
