This is the first BlackBerry 6 OS leak for the BlackBerry Pearl 3G we have seen so far. Yesterday we saw the BlackBerry bold 9700 get the leak, and I had tweeted about the Pearl 3G being next in line, as it made sense to be of course but didn’t realize it would be this soon!
I strongly believe this one’s more exciting to see than on other devices as the Pearl 3G is a smaller screen so it’s interesting to see what its attributes are and how the functionality will overall be. Any way, this is for both the 9100 and 9105 model, so download while the link is still live! Enjoy.

Well, it’s been quite a long ride with BerryReader v1.1 as it received many beta updates left and right, targeted more towards touchscreen devices (Torch users in specific). This version is 1.1.49 bringing the following changes:
- Added ‘Share on Twitter’ support
- Added ‘Share on Facebook’ support
- Added new visual UI for swiping article headers to toggle read/star on touchscreen devices
- Now showing multiple article images inline, not just the first one
- New image viewer for full size image viewing, with option to zoom and pan (supports pinch-to-zoom on touchscreens)
- Added option to hide “all feeds”/”feeds not in folders” from feed selection popup
- Feed selection popup shows feeds below folders
- Improved overall UI responsiveness
- Many bug fixes and other improvements
The biggest enhancement/add-on I see here is the Facebook and Twitter sharing. I’m also fond of the whole swiping article headers to star or mark read. That’s a feature we see on iPhones mainly so it’s nice that BlackBerry gets in on the swipey action as well.
You can head over to the Bellshare forums to grab the latest BerryReader version official release or grab a copy fresh from the PocketBerry Store.

There’s no rescheduled launch date or why exactly the BlackBerry Bold 9780 has been delayed for Bell Canada. According to some info received over at BerryReview, the BlackBerry Bold 9780 has been delayed for Bell specifically but we don’t know what’s to come of other carriers yet too.
It is possible to see issues in the OS builds or maybe the device itself has some defects. We don’t know yet, but we’re hoping this is only carrier specific and not across the board for the rest of the world.

I’m a bit lost at words and can’t say I have ever encountered this issue before. My whole OS seems very plain and it’s as if the graphics forgot to install themselves here. All my applications are still there as you can point some of them from the screenshot such as AOL Instant Messenger, BerryReader, and CaptureIt. It’s nearly impossibly to use as you can’t see any cursor moving any where. it’s more like trial and error and I’m not liking it!
Have any of you had this issue? Now onto Round 2 of installing 6.0 on the BlackBerry Bold 9700.
UPDATE: Thanks to all who tweeted and left comments for this one. It looks like this issue is going on for the T-Mobile BlackBerry Bold 9700, which is exactly what I’m using here and failed to mention earlier. The solution is: After installing the .exe, go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9700M_v6.0.0.344_P6.6.0.50\Java and delete the following two files called:
- net_rim_theme_tmobile_BlackBerry6_480x360_b.cod
- net_rim_theme_tmobileeu_BlackBerry6_480x360_b.cod
Then proceed and install the operating system on to your device and you’re good to go.
Tips & Tricks »

This I found quite interesting. I was in the process of setting up the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 to use for a few days and received an error while downloading SocialScope. Immediately, I received an automated email from the SocialScope team telling how to fix this 907 error. It’s quite simple and most of you if not all are going to do this on your own any way. The message read:
We noticed you received a 907 error while trying to install SocialScope and would like to help. The error is caused by a bug in BlackBerry OS. The good news is that it’s easy to fix:
- 1) Delete SocialScope from your phone
- 2) Take the battery out of your phone for a couple of minutes
- 3) Redownload SocialScope from http://getsocialscope.com
- 4) Smile
So yes it was pretty straight forward. I just found it cool that they keep track of who has trouble downloading and immediately have emails sent out to help solve issues.

According to a press release from Friday October 28th, 2010, the Indian government has called off the BlackBerry ban for the whole country. You all guessed it right, RIM has given in to allow the Indian goverment to snoop on BBM services.
It seems to be the ideal and very obvious solution for all these countries threatening to put a ban. After RIM caters the snooping to one country, it becomes obligated to do it to any other country that requests it to keep its customers alive worldwide. Hit the jump for the full press release.
