Another remote security application has just launched today – this one called Track and Protect. Klomptek has released both a free version and premium version of Track and Protect. The free version does quite a bit for you while the premium goes a little bit further with remote locks, wipes, and will even take a front face picture (if your device has a front face camera, which it probably does not any way). You can head over to their site and check out all the free and premium services. If you’re looking to try the application, click the link below to download it over the air today. With the free version, you’ll be able to:
- Periodic passcode check on phone
- Passcode check at phone startup

Originally, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 from Boost Mobile was tagged at $249.99 to purchase. We got the word from Engadget that Boost has permanently dropped the price down to $199.99 making it even more affordable. At $60 a month for unlimited voice, text and mobile data, you can’t really go wrong with it. I think it’s one of the best prepaid BlackBerry services we currently have in the United States, as T-Mobile has been on that same action lately, but not at $60. So if you’re looking to get into prepaid BlackBerry, definitely check out the Boost Mobile BlackBerry Curve 8530.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 isn’t the latest from the Curve family, and as you know by now it does not support BlackBerry 6 OS. In any case, it’s a good starter edition BlackBerry for those just getting in the game.

We had heard a rumor a few weeks ago that AT&T was getting the BlackBerry Bold 9780 pretty soon. The rumor stood to be at the end of November, but it looks like a December launch date would seem more appropriate. Just like the BlackBerry Bold 9700, T-Mobile held it down first, then AT&T picked it up officially about two weeks later.
This time around T-Mobile got the Bold 9780, making us think that it will hit the streets with AT&T in a short matter of time with all the talk about it from AT&T store reps. So here it is – the BlackBerry Bold 9780 for AT&T. It’s on sale for eBay for those interested in grabbing it now rather than wait the rumored few weeks it’s expected to launch. Seller is asking $899.00 for it with $20 shipping. Ouch.

This is a really funny video I came across at IntoMobile showing an interesting street game called BlackBerry BBM/Text Roulette. RIM and College Humor have teamed up on this one for a quick street game picking up random BlackBerry users from the street to play.
Basically, you flip a coin which determines whether or not a text or BBM will be sent. Then the contestant must spin the wheel where whatever message it lands on is the message to be sent to a random person selected by the hosts. The downside was you had to wait five minutes before explaining yourself to your friend or contact. The prize for this is $100. Enjoy the clip!

We spotted the red BlackBerry Torch 9800 first from AT&T in a leaked image showing off what’s to come for the holiday season. In a short period of time after that, AT&T rolled it out the Torch out in both red and white colors. Then we saw Canadian carriers such as Rogers getting the Torch in other colors too. Now we have confirmation that Bell and Virgin Mobile both have the BlackBerry Torch 9800 in red. With no strings attached, you can have the red Blackberry Torch for $599.95, where on a 3-year you’ll dish out $179.95
Head over to Bell and Virgin Mobile to check out more on the red BlackBerry Torch 9800.

BlackBerry Maps has surprisingly just updated last night, as we found out from the BlackBerry Developer’s Blog. It looks like the first big deal is the extended data coverage where 34 countries have been added including Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, New Zealand, Philippines and Taiwan.
Next, the visuals have gotten better. There’s now a stronger rendering engine with better colors for the maps. There’s more point of interest databases now for hospitals, universities, police stations, train stations, shopping centers, parking, parks, and airports.

While browsing through App World earlier this morning, I noticed that WordPress for BlackBerry had an update from 1.4.4 to 1.4.5. Unfortunately there is no change log on this one and nothing about it on the official blog, so we’ll just go ahead and assume this version threw in some bug fixes as I haven’t noticed any differences myself here.
