RIM and Adobe have put in their efforts educating application developers for the upcoming BlackBerry PlayBook.  Developers have been going hard at work making cool apps in best hopes that they will be available by the time the tablet launches.  The folks over at Universal Mind have developed a Fantasy Football application for the PlayBook.  In the video above, you’ll see the application hands on via the BlackBerry PlayBook simulator.  The app is based off of Adobe Air, which seems to be working very well.  So far I’m impressed by what developers have accomplished and am very excited for the future of apps developed from Air.

For those who follow all those quote generators and whatnot on Twitter, you can get an application on your BlackBerry for that.  Daily Quote generates a new quote every day for you to see.  If you like the quote, you can mark it as your favorite and come back to browse it any time you want.  It’s a free basic application with not much to it.

BeAmplified is that PlayBook theme we posted about a few weeks ago that looked just like the UI QNX has.  It looked pretty close to me at least.  Any way, as a Deal of the Day in the Themes section, it’s on sale for only $2.49.  Click the link below to check out more info on BeAmplified or to purchase a copy.

This is a shot in the dark, but according to this screenshot spotted by BBLeaks, it looks like a 4G BlackBerry data plan is in cue somewhere.  The data plans read “BlackBerry 4G” so I don’t really see it being anything else.  This could of course just be a mistake, or maybe we will be seeing some BlackBerry 4G action in the future.  What are your takes on this?

The BlackBerry Torch 9800 in white is just really sexy. I’m very fond of BlackBerry devices coming up in white.  My first was the BlackBerry Bold 9000 which came in white and then I went for the Bold 9700 after in white, and now we have a Torch among us in white as well.  In any case, AT&T already had this one out, but Rogers was sort of second in line for it, so the wait is over.  The white BlackBerry Torch 9800 is now officially available for Rogers customers.  Hooray!

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 and BlackBerry Curve 8520 both got the same operating system leak today.  Both stand at 5.0.0.1022, being the latest version available anywhere.  I’m not so sure how many more 5.0 updates they can do, but it definitely is impressive to see that go along still for these older devices.  In any case, if you have a Curve 8900 or Curve 8520, feel free to grab this one.  We’ve got a few download mirrors below after the jump.

According to a blog post from Jeff Glueck (CEO of Skyfire), Skyfire may still be coming to BlackBerry.  A while back we got the word that Skyfire has shut down its development for the BlackBerry platform but things seem to be shaping otherwise now.  Glueck says:

“Microsoft’s new Windows Phone 7 and Nokia’s MeeGo platform are both shaping up as platforms with a lot of potential and the recent launch of the new Blackberry OS 6 with a WebKit browser core makes for interesting potential for a future release of Skyfire 2.0.”

So does this mean that Skyfire will be coming? Well as said above, they seem to find some high interest in BlackBerry 6 OS and see there is potention for Skyfire 2.0 to launch.  There of course isn’t any development on it that we know of, but perhaps we’ll be seeing some goodies in the next few months.
