It’s been a while since we saw any action from Pinball Deluxe.  We had the opportunity to meet the developers at DEVCON this year, learning how far out popular their game is and getting a better hands on with it as we really didn’t try it before.  In any case, Pinball Deluxe is now on sale for today only as a Deal of the Day special, saving you 50% instantly.  Features include:

  • Plunger, Flippers, Bumpers, Targets, Roll-over, Slingshots, Ramps, Mini-Games, Captures, Nudge/Tilt, etc…
  • Realistic Physics
  • Smooth animation at over 25 fps
  • Unlock the Haunted Mansion and play with 2 balls!
  • Access the Arcade section and play “Truck Attack”
  • Play the “Mirror House”, a mini Pinball with reverse controls
  • Customs sounds and vibration
  • Available in 5 languages (English, French, Italian, German & Spanish)

So if you’re looking for a nice game to play on your BlackBerry or just find yourself fond of Pinball in general, this is by far the best experience for that.  I expected it to be savvy on touchscreen devices only because of the screen size, but Pinball Deluxe works great on QWERTY smaller screen devices.

You all know Riz for his hit song “PING Me Baby” which became really popular on YouTube and to the BlackBerry world.  Then he popped up at DEVCON this year where we got to see him live performing his hit song.  We just got the word from Riz on this new commercial he put together bashing the iPhone 4 and representing BlackBerry to the max.  Part of the clip you’ll recognize from the BlackBerry Style 9670 commercial.  Either way it’s cool – and we love what Riz is doing for the BlackBerry community so far.

With BlackBerry 6 here and now, we’re just curious as to who is using it and who isn’t.  Surely your device might not support it but if it does, perhaps you installed a leaked version.  Some of you may have purchased a device with BlackBerry 6 pre-installed.  That includes the BlackBerry Torch 9800, BlackBerry Style 9670, and BlackBerry Bold 9780. So cast your votes in the poll above, tweet us, or drop a line in the comments!

Awesome.  I’ve been waiting to see a head to head comparison of both the BlackBerry PlayBook and the Apple iPad and here it is.  So the PlayBook is significantly smaller, but it is a more powerful machine is the video suggests.  In the video we see a few tests running as well as web pages loading with flash.  Of course the iPad doesn’t get any flash love, but the PlayBook does!

There’s a lot of hate for themes out there where there isn’t much of any change from the stock one, but I’m not so against that.  I’m not a theme person myself, but I can definitely suggest that there are users out there who want to go a little different with their BlackBerry homescreens but would still like to keep some kind of consistency.  So for that reason, here’s a free theme called BBin which gives you just that. BBingives you new notifications, “vibrant” colors as the stock description says, and new fonts.  Everything else is pretty much the same and you’ll still have the theme tabbed out (Frequent, All, Downloads, etc.).

Here’s a free game I came across the PocketBerry Store that has been out for quite some time but I don’t recall us shouting it out here at all.  So Finger Trap claims to be another addictive game for touchscreen BlackBerry models only that’s based on your reflexes.  The point of the game is to keep the red square “safe” for as long as you can.  You place your finger on it to start the game off and never let go.  Go around the screen trying to avoid hitting blue boxes and see the highest score you can get.  I look at this as a remix of Copter, one of my favorite BlackBerry games which I played on flash websites years and years ago.

This is the second BlackBerry India commercial I see, where this one can be taken a bit more serious, but still contains its humor somehow (just watch for yourselves).  I think it’s funny how we see foreign films with dubbed voice overs and inaccurate to time sound effects then we see BlackBerry usage happening on the screen that does not go with what they’re actually doing.  Ok well that sounds a bit confusing to you all by now so I suggest you just watch it.

Leaked Content »

UPDATE: According to the comments we received, it looks like the app is in French and doesn’t support trackpad devices. Bit of a bummer but if anyone sees otherwise, drop a line!

So all of you who have been missing out on webkit action due to lack of BlackBerry 6 can now get in on it, sort of.  There’s been a leak of Opera Mini 5 for OS 5.0 devices which includes OS 6.0 webkit.  So enjoy using the web to its maximum potential now.  Hopefully the link is still good when you guys try downloading it, but if it’s down, it’s because it’s a leak (obviously).  It looks like this one’s a desktop download though and not an OTA.  If anyone feels like making one, let us know! So for now, download the files and upload them via BlackBerry Desktop Manager to put on your BlackBerrys.

I personally haven’t tried this one out yet, so if it comes up not working or working, let us know via Twitter or the comments below about your experiences.

Thanks Ehab for spotting this one!
