For a little while now, I’ve been using the BlackBerry HS-300 Wireless Headset.  I’m very fond of it at the moment now, more than my other headsets for many reasons.  I’m pretty much wrapped up with the review and will be posting it up here in the next few days, but I thought I’d give you some key reasons why the BlackBerry HS-300 is the headset to choose.  Usually I throw in the price factor, where I didn’t this time since you all know by now that the HS-300 retails for only $49.99.  I saved the 5 reasons for other valuable ones instead :) .  Hit the jump to read the list.

The folks over at LaBlackBerry spotted something interesting over at the BlackBerry mobile website.  As you know, a bunch of new ringtones rolled out with BlackBerry 6, making some of you miss some “classics” offered in OS 5.0.  So RIM has put out all those older ringtones just for BlackBerry 6 users like you to download for free.

I guess many have been tweeting Telus in regards to BlackBerry 6 OS to officially launch for the BlackBerry Bold 9700, and there is no confirmed date for that yet.  On Twitter, Telus has responded that they do not know when the official release will be coming but they do have 6.0 coming to the BlackBerry Curve 3G 9300 in early January.  So any of you who purchased the device and are a bit unhappy with 5.0, hold up a bit longer as January is right around the corner along with an official build of OS 6.0 from Telus.

A few days ago, a rumor from Kaufman Bros emerged speaking about RIM having battery life issues with the BlackBerry PlayBook and that was the prime reason for a delay.  In response, RIM has replied back, as the rumor spread out all over the web.  Here’s the official statement:

Any testing or observation of battery life to date by anyone outside of RIM would have been performed using pre-beta units that were built without power management implemented. RIM is on track with its schedule to optimize the BlackBerry PlayBook’s battery life and looks forward to providing customers with a professional grade tablet that offers superior performance with comparable battery life.

Doubt it! But it would be nice.  Today I spent a decent amount of time waiting for my car to be serviced and forgot my iPad at home and was left with my BlackBerry only.  That’s not an issue for me, but I have become spoiled from applications such as Netflix and Hulu Plus on the iPad which make me want them around more often.

At the moment, Netflix is on the iPhone and iPad exclusively now, but I’d love to see other platforms get it.  I’m not only vouching for the BlackBerry here, but Android deserves to get it as well due to its large display screens.  On my BlackBerry Torch, it would definitely be awesome to have.

We already let you know about the SoundID EarPrint application for BlackBerry and even gave you a brief walkthrough of screenshots within the application so that those of you who don’t own the headset could see what it’s capable of.  I’m not exactly sure which specific devices were supported before, but I do know it did work on the Torch as that’s what I demoed the application on.

In any case, support now fully includes: Curve 8900, Tour 9630, Bold 9650, Bold 9700, Torch 9800, Storm 9550,  Storm 9530 and Storm 9520.

You can pick up a copy of EarPrint over at BlackBerry App World for free.  Keep in mind this application requires the SoundID 510 Bluetooth wireless headset.
