RIM starts launching BlackBerry App World v2.1 update
by Mac Jadalhack
So RIM has gone ahead and sent out friendly emails out to BlackBerry developers letting them know about a new BlackBerry App World update rolling through. With App World v2.1, developers will be able to “upload digital goods for Blackberry Payment Service (in-app purchases)” as well as “register and manage digital goods in the BlackBerry App World Vender Portal.”
Off hand when I see the in-app purchasing capability, I think of a few games on my iPad where I can purchase more “coins” or credits used get more objects or speed processes up. So this opens a nice portal for games alone, and I’m sure other applications will be able to benefit from this as well.
Next, is being able to register and manage apps from App World itself. So I’m guessing what’s being said here is that you can have all your application registrations and device switching all through App World at the moment. Some apps that require keys will not work traditionally when hopping from device to device, but it looks like App World will take the initiative here in app management.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in!
