Just yesterday, BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac got updated to v2.0 adding some features that were missed out on before.  It’s still not as equal to the PC client, but definitely getting there hopefully.  I realized this morning that there was an update for BlackBerry Desktop Software for PC bringing it to version 6.0.1.18.

I really don’t notice any new changes in this build but if any of you come across any, let us know and we’ll update our post!

So I was waiting to see more of those “Love what you do” commercials for the recently launched BlackBerry Bold 9780 – here it is! We’ve seen these commercials go through many different industries and this time it’s dance.  In this commercial, you’ll see how the BlackBerry Bold 9780 is great for the ballerina.

There’s over a dozen of call blocking applications out there, but Mr. Number is a good one – because it’s free! At first it only covered call blocking, but now the app has been updated and supports text message blocking as well.  Features of Mr. Number include:

  • Choose how to handle blocked calls (send to voicemail or hang up)
  • Automatically block tens of thousands of known telemarketers – list updated daily
  • Block individual phone numbers, a contact, an entire area code, or the world
  • Block private and restricted numbers
  • Customizable whitelist: make sure the right people always get through
  • History of every call blocked and why
  • Notifications of blocked calls in your inbox (optional)
  • Big easy on/off button in case you change your mind

Usually theme makers stay out of the whole application and game market, as themes is what they do best.  Cocky Culture is very well known for their premium themes with styles and effects that stand out over others on the market.  They have just launched their first game called Devilish.  In the game, you’ll go through nine levels trying to get your demon named Dante to the end avoiding flying demons, arrows, and more.

Devlish is priced out at $1.99, which is a pretty good price considering many BlackBerry games are 5 bucks and up.

Do you use BlackBerry News Feeds?  The other day, RIM officially launched an RSS feed reader called News Feeds, which seems to be what they have done with the previously acquired Viigo back in March.  Now there’s other RSS feed apps out there for the BlackBerry, many free ones, and some premium ones such as BerryReader by Bellshare which seems to be one of the most popular ones.  BlackBerry News Feeds seemed really cool, but far too basic than what’s already available out there.  Some don’t mind it at all, while others were more in favor of other apps that included more features such as Twitter/Facebook integration and more.   Cast your votes in the poll above, tweet us, or drop a line in the comments!

BlackBerry Desktop Software for Mac was really basic for a while, not giving you as many options as the client for PC does.  It has just updated to version 2.0.0.64 adding the following:

  • Support for BlackBerry 6 devices
  • Switching Devices Wizard
  • Media Sync & WiFi Music Sync

In the end of the day, it still doesn’t match what the PC version of BlackBerry Desktop Software has, but I guess we’re getting there.  I found it really aggrevating that there was only Backup and Restore with no switching a device wizard.

Back in April there was the official word from TweetDeck that they were launching the Twitter client for BlackBerry, but it would be web-based.  Now I’m thinking things may be more delayed with the webkit browser on BlackBerry 6.0, and even QNX OS on the BlackBerry PlayBook.

We’ve got plenty of Twitter applications available for BlackBerry, but many users do favor TweetDeck on their Apple devices and computers, so it just makes us so curious to see what’s to come of it.  TweetDeck for BlackBerry announced to be a web app raises a lot of interest as is.  What do you guys think?

Well we’ve been teased about BlackBerry Protect launching sometime in the future, but haven’t seen anything surface yet.  Ronen at BerryReview spotted BlackBerry Protect mentioned in the BlackBerry Connection Newsletter which explains how the service works and all the key benefits.

The funny thing is there’s a link to download BlackBerry Protect on this page but when clicked, it just reloads the same page.  So keep your eyes and ears open as we might be getting it sooner than expected.
